Grace During Transitions and August Goals Video

I can hardly believe we’re already to the end of the month and yet what an exciting time to think about grace during transitions as we share our August goals video.

At the end of every day, I ask myself two questions:

  1. What went well today?
  2. What could have gone better today?

Likewise, at the end of each month I ask myself, “What did I learn from this month that I can carry into next month?” Most of the time, whenever I’m looking over the answers to the daily questions I notice a pattern that leads to me to quiet reflection for what I learned each month.

Finding a Theme Each Month

Some months I needed to learn how to be more nurturing or patient. Other months I needed to learn how to be more vulnerable and ask for help. Some months I’ve had to deal with debilitating anxiety.

Whereas other months have taught me about enjoying the moment and being fully present while at the same time setting realistic expectations. There is always something to learn from every single month!

This month’s theme has, without a doubt, been grace.

Grace Covers Us Daily

For it’s grace that has gotten us up every morning for months at 1:30am, then 3:00 am, 4:15 am and finally 5:30 am with the sweetest geriatric dogs on the planet.  Yes, you can function for a few weeks on very little sleep. But after a while it starts to take a toll on every facet of your life.

It’s grace that reminds us to keep going when we’re tired. To stop long enough to notice the intoxicating scent of a gardenia. It reminds us to be thankful as we stare up at a sky full of stars.

Grace keeps our frayed nerves and tempers in check when exhaustion is settling in. It allows us to forgive quickly and not allow grudges to take hold for even a minute.

Grace covers the back to school transitions that lead to harried mornings filled with meltdowns, picky eater lunches, and homework strewn all over the kitchen table.

It helps us to get back on track, embrace new routines and to refocus on our goals no matter what our current circumstances are.

Grace gives us as many chances as we need. Even when we know deep down, we could have made a better choice.

It quietly nudges us to give ourselves the permission to take a break.  Embrace more white space. To say “yes” to the things we’re most passionate about and “no” to the people and activities that consistently drain our joy.

Grace During Times of Transition

During times of transition, be it the seasonal transition from Summer to Fall or the transition that accompanies a job, a house, a relationship, a goal, a healthy routine, a failure, a loss or a new chapter in our lives – it’s grace that becomes our constant companion even though we don’t always realize it.

Navigating change and evolution is not always easy but it’s a necessary part of life.  These times of transition can be difficult sometimes.  While other times, they can seem like an amazing adventure.

As you chart your course though these situations whatever they may be, it can be helpful to ask yourself these six easy questions along the way.

Here are three to get you started before the video…

  1. How do you want to show up?
  2. What is this experience teaching me?
  3. Is what I’m doing right now helping me reach my ultimate goal?

The next few months are going to fly by, you guys, they always do.

Despite what felt like a lackluster performance in July, August has blown us away with the goals we have accomplished. After speaking with several friends and accountability partners this week, it seems like August has been a big month for you guys too.

I’m reminded that our success in reaching these goals did not happen overnight.  It’s been happening little by little throughout the year with each decision and choice we’ve made whether we could see any actual progress or not. We kept going regardless of difficulties or hardships or inconvenient circumstances.

Be proud of that accomplishment, you guys, it’s HUGE and worth celebrating to the fullest!

As we enter a fresh new month, I want you to be really intentional with both the goals you set for yourself. And also how you choose to spend your time. Grace during transitions can be a comforting companion but only if we let it.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to welcome it.

Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.

Many blessings,

CoCo
