No matter if you have a big friends and family group or a small one, coordinating holiday plans is no simple feat.
It definitely takes time and effort, you know?
For us, the holidays usually run from Thanksgiving to the end of February with lots of parties, birthday celebrations, events, and driving long distances thrown in the mix.
Over the years, we’ve learned to plan as much as possible in advance and to give each other lots of grace.
Undeniably, keeping those two factors at the forefront of our holiday festivities has helped us to be more intentional about the time we’re able to spend together which has made all the difference.
Thanksgiving Planning and Checklist Ideas
I know so many of you are working long hours and have a lot on your plates right now.
So, I thought I would share our family’s Thanksgiving Planning Checklist with you.
It’s an easy way to keep track of what you may need to schedule, pack, plan, or bring for the upcoming holiday.
We usually print it out on card stock so we can work on it as time allows.
Because having a visual reminder always helps!
Thanksgiving Activity Ideas
It’s definitely going to feel like a completely different kind of celebration this year given it will be our very first Thanksgiving at home and not at the farm or at the cabin.
We’re all excited to make new memories and create new traditions though.
My Mom is so excited she’s already sent us a menu for the weekend and an activity list too!
If you’re just starting this process as well, here are some things to consider trying….
- Share a special meal together
- Make your family’s favorite cookies
- Create and mail Christmas cards
- Go on a hayride
- Bob for apples
- Make smores around the firepit
- Host a chili cookoff
- Walk on the beach
- Hike a new trail
- Shop for Christmas presents
- Make a gingerbread house
- Watch a football game or play a game in the backyard
- Volunteer at the soup kitchen
- Attend a tree lighting ceremony
- Decorate the Christmas tree
- Make Christmas ornaments
- Take family pictures
- End the weekend with sparklers and cider
