How to Create a Dog Feeding Station
We’re sharing how to create a dog feeding station today!
One of the best things we’ve ever done is to welcome rescues into our hearts and home. Rescues are not always easy but they are absolutely worth every minute of effort you invest in them.
And I’m convinced our hearts are richer for having them in our lives.
While we’ve had several iterations of a dog feeding station over the years, it’s been one of the easiest ways to keep all their supplies organized.
I know we’re all in the midst of organizing projects right now, so I wanted to share both ideas with you. That way, you can decide which one would work best for your home.
Here’s a look at how to create a dog feeding station at home…
Creating a Dog Feeding Station From a Nightstand…
Many years ago we created a dog feeding station from one of the nightstands that came with my childhood bedroom furniture sets.
At the time, we were desperate to find a budget-friendly way to corral all their toys and treats.
Since the nightstand was still in great shape, we decided to give the drawer faces a complete makeover with scrap wood.
Once the drawer faces were ready to go,
I painted the entire nightstand in Valspar’s Ultra White
then added these pulls from Hobby Lobby.
The two drawers helped to keep everything organized for several years.
But nearly every time we used the dog feeding station, we made note of how low to the ground it was and how one day we would happily upgrade to a dog feeding station that was counter height.
Creating a Dog Feeding Station From a Stock Cabinet…
That day finally arrived when we decided to give our pantry and kitchen a makeover as part of the One Room Challenge.
While we were working on the project, my bestie S found a budget-friendly stock cabinet at Lowes.
The only problem was that it didn’t have a top.
So we made one out of scrap wood, added wheels on the bottom to make it easier to move around, painted the top in French Linen and the body in Bistro White, added a handle, and called it good to go.
I’m happy to report, the dog feeding station continues to serve us well and I’m thankful every day we have a place for all of Piper’s treats, toys, and supplies.
How to Keep Things Organized…
As you can imagine, the more the needs of our pets change, the greater our need for a better organizing strategy.
Initially, we went from this…
to this…
And last week after realizing we had been far too indulgent with treats and toys,
we went to this…
I placed all of Piper’s individual treats into quart-size Ball jars. Then placed all the jars in a clear turntable.
That way, we can easily access her treats at any given time without having to dig around for her favorites.
To keep Piper’s toys, supplies, and travel essentials organized I put them in fabric bins. The window on the front makes it easy to label the contents inside.
And to help keep all of her puzzles organized, I simply placed them in a large basket on top of the dog feeding station.
She does at least one puzzle a day so it definitely helps to keep them front and center!
A Note of Caution and Care…
As always, make sure you keep pet food and meds, items that could be harmful out of the reach of mischievous pets and curious littles.
These baskets and jars can easily be removed when the littles come to visit. They love to help feed Piper and give her treats.
We also always make sure the pantry door is shut tight, so Piper can’t get in and dig around for goodies unattended. She is so sneaky sometimes!
All in all, I’m thankful to have this dog feeding station.
It not only helps to keep Piper’s treats and toys organized. But it also makes feeding her (she gets a mix of wet and dry food right now) quick and easy.
If you haven’t taken the opportunity to organize your pet’s supplies yet, I highly recommend it!

Many blessings,

Great idea!! So clever how you changed the front…smart lady!
Aww, thanks, Angie! It was the perfect size for the space but those yellow and green flowers wouldn’t have worked at all ha ha! Sending you hugs, CoCo
Great redo solution for that outdated piece CoCo! Great idea localizing all your supplies so neat, tidy and attractively. I know my pup would break those great glass jars though, she’s a little trouble maker but a great idea never the less!
Thank you so much, Brenda, I really appreciate it! It’s definitely made the morning feeding routine so much easier. I have 2 little Jack Russell Terriers and they weigh 10 and 12 pounds so I knew they would be ok with the glass containers but I keep my eye on the the 45 pounds of mutt loving. Thankfully the pantry door closes so they’re not tempted ha ha. Sending you and your baby girl hugs for a happy day, CoCo
Love it! We have a puppy cabinet too. They know it’s theirs as soon as I open the door
It’s quite adorable.
I have a toy basket too and when it opens they get so excited!
Storing all of your pet’s supplies in the same place is such a great idea! I love the cabinet you made for all of Piper’s things! She’s one lucky dog to have a family that cares for her so well!
This is great! I’ve never thought about putting the treats in mason jars! I have all of these different packages everywhere! They are going into jars today!
I really need to do this! Great ideas. Piper is adorable. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen
CoCo,
This is just the cutest idea. I need to do this but don’t have the room. However, I’ll share it on Sunday. Have a great weekend.
I love that Piper works on/solves as least one puzzle a day. I think I may need to start incorporating puzzles into our dogs lives . . . Your dog feeding station is a great idea and it fits into your pantry perfectly. Apparently Piper knows that it is “her station” – based on the photos you shared. (Which is totally cute) Your post also reminds me that it is a good time to go through our dogs’ toys and toss out the ones they don’t play with. Their crate with toys is overflowing . . .🤦♀️
