Are PowerSheets Worth the Investment
Today, I’m sharing an honest review of my experience using PowerSheets the intentional goal planner for a year.
Are they worth the investment?
In a word, absolutely!
At a Crossroads…
At the end of 2017, I found myself at a crossroads. I had just finished up the Horse Farm Project and I was physically and emotionally exhausted.
In March of that year, my grandparents passed away within 36 hours of each other.
Three months later, my beloved Talladega passed away and a few months after that we had to deal with Hurricane Irma.
You know how the Queen refers to 1992 as an “Annus Horribilis,” Latin for a horrible year?
Well, that’s exactly how I felt about 2017.
Desperate For Change…
Desperate for change and in need of focus, my set of PowerSheets arrived shortly before we left for the cabin.
I brought them with me determined to fill out every page and use the quiet time for prayer filled reflection.
I’ll be honest, the first 30 pages were overwhelming at first.
I had spent most of the year either buried in grief or hopping from one project to the next, working multiple jobs so I didn’t have to deal with my grief.
Doing the Work…
While there were inspirational quotes and encouraging notes from PowerSheets creator, Lara Casey, throughout those pages, the heart-work was tough at times.
I didn’t want to fill out the pages related to…
- Getting to Know Me
- Who I Really Am
- Break Out of Your Identity Box
- Cultivated Life Evaluation
- Things I’m Letting Go Of, Things I’m Saying No To
- Dealing with Fears, Challenges, Lessons I Learned
I just wanted skip to the fun stuff like…
- Exploring My Ideas
- Things I’m Saying Yes To
- The Big Picture
- What Fires Me Up
- Word of the Year
- What Matters Most to Me
- My Most Purposeful Year
- Goal Setting
Preparing Your Heart and Mind for PowerSheets…
But you know what?
That heart-work was definitely necessary to help me focus on what I really wanted, not just what I thought I could handle.
It also helped me realize I had been holding myself back out of a fear of failure. I share this because I know some of you might feel that way too.
Diving Into Goal Setting…
After getting through the heart-work section, diving into the goals setting section of the Powersheets is a lot easier.
You feel empowered to let go of the things you wished you would have accomplished in previous years but for whatever reason, didn’t.
Another thing I like about the goal setting section is that it walks you through an action plan so that you can set smart, measurable, attainable and timely goals.
The goals setting section will help you uncover and set:
- Big Picture Goals
- Your Why
- The Goal Impact
- How to Take Action
- Starting Steps
The Tending List…
Once you’re super specific and clear about your goals, you’ll start filling out the Tending List.
And this list, sweet friends, is GOLD!
I can’t even tell you how many times, I would be mindlessly scrolling Instagram or procrastinating on something I knew was important when the monthly tending list would help me regain focus and get back on track.
It was amazing!
Month in Review…
At the end of the month, you’ll do a Month in Review which is super helpful as well.
You’ll answer easy questions like, “Progress I’m celebrating…” and other questions like, “I’m choosing grace over guilt about…”
I know it might seem like extra work at first.
But it is so interesting to look back and see how much you’ve changed from one month to the next or how you handled challenges differently from one season to the next.
Quarterly Review…
As with the Month in Review there is also a Quarterly Review.
This section is helpful because you might reach your goals earlier than you expect or as with my case last year, our life circumstances drastically changed and what I set out for myself to accomplish in January was no longer feasible given my caregiver role come November.
I can’t even tell you how much it helped to understand that you can have grace filled goals and purpose filled goals at the same time.
In years past, I would either be so disappointed in myself for not reaching every goal I set out or I would spend all of December 31 ruminating over where the year had gone!
There was literally no middle ground.
After using PowerSheets though, I knew exactly how invested my time, my money, my gifts and resources.
Now, some of you might be thinking PowerSheets aren’t for you.
Maybe you think you’re too old, or your dreams aren’t big enough, or you’re too busy because your work/family/life takes up every ounce of energy you have left.
And then there are those of you that secretly wonder, “Is it even worth it to dream and set goals anymore?”
While I can’t answer how much something is worth to you, I can tell you with complete confidence PowerSheets not only changed me, they helped to change and grow our business more than I ever expected they would. One area alone grew 1000%!
They helped to focus my dreams into goals, put action steps into habits, kept me grounded as I worked with clients and encouraged my accountability partners every week.
Most of all, they gave some of my darkest days grace filled purpose.
Are PowerSheets worth the investment?
In a word, absolutely!
They’re an exciting adventure if you’re willing to roll up your sleeves and put in the work.
Because PowerSheets are not a calendar – they’re an intentional goal planner – you’ll need a companion calendar planner to help keep your daily to dos, birthdays, meetings, travel plans, etc organized.

I’ve the Day Designer Flagship Daily Planner in the past. You can also find the *Day Designer Daily Planner here, the *Day Designer Daily/Monthly Planner here or the *Day Designer Weekly/Monthly Planner here.
The Day Designer my Mom and I are using is unfortunately sold out but you can find the mini version, here.
I’ve also heard really good things about the Simplified Daily Planner or you can find the *Simplified Weekly/Monthly Planner here.
In fact, the Simplified Planner is the one I recommended to my baby sister.
As far as pens go, I used these *Pilot FriXion Erasable Pens (7-pack) and (10-pack) with the PowerSheets and didn’t have any trouble with bleed through at all.
I know several people that use the Paper Mate Flair Pens and have loved them so they’re on my list to try too.
Like many of you, my favorite thing about the New Year is that a fresh start always feels SO good.
That said, we’re truly given a fresh start each day and the only thing magical about January 1st is the power we ultimately give it.
So, whether your goal in 2019 is to love your family well, to grow your social media following, to climb Mount Everest or to save for a new home, each of those goals is a noble undertaking because you’re willing to put yourself out there and take a chance.
You don’t have to have “big goals” to make things happen.
You just have to be willing to decide what matters to you most and then work every day to leave behind a legacy you can be proud of.
If you’re ready to stop wondering where your days go and want to live a life of purpose, I highly recommend you check out PowerSheets.
They were one of the best investments I made for myself and my business in 2018!
Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Many blessings,
CoCo
I will be looking into these Coco because I like you look back every year and wonder where my time went. Its good to know I dont have to d0 that this year. Thanks for the resource
Speak to my heart, Brandy, I know exactly what you mean. It was so hard to believe an entire year had passed without me know where all the days have gone. PowerSheets helped me to focus on what I really cared about so I hope they will do the same for you too. Let me know what you think of them or if you have any questions. We’re happy to help. Hugs, CoCo
I love PowerSheets too Coco. They helped me focus my finances so I could buy a second tiny house. I’m using them now for 2019 because my goals are even bigger this year.
I’m so excited about your tiny house, Bonnie, that is so cool. PowerSheets definitely made a difference for us and I’m glad to see they’ve helped you as well. I know everyone on the Cultivate What Matters team works really hard. Sending you hugs for a happy day, CoCo
