I don’t know about you but I feel like decorating for summer can be complicated at times

Especially, if you live in a warm climate and the temps hold steady in the mid to high 90s from the beginning of May to the end of September.

Since the season can feel like a long one, some years we go all out with shells and stripes.

Other years, we keep summer decorating at a minimum because we’re trying to get projects finished before hurricane season gets into full swing.

No matter what camp you find yourself in there is still plenty of time to discover simple summer pleasures and celebrate all the good things the season has to offer.

Highlight Your Porch and Patio Spaces

Summer is a great time to give a casual yet comfortable feel to your porch and patio spaces.

Especially, if you’re constantly on the road to your next adventure or hosting company during a busy summer season.

Creating a welcoming environment on your porch can be as simple as hanging a statement piece on the door and adding a few container gardens of flowers or succulents to help welcome you home.

Dine Al Fresco

Eating outside is one of my favorite simple pleasures no matter what time of year it is!

Whether you’re creating a special meal with al fresco dining or making s’mores around the firepit every meal is an opportunity to make new memories.

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy at all. Grab a few galvanized containers, rattan or wicker placemats, and pile on the shells and sea glass you’ve collected while on vacation.

It’s one of the easiest budget-friendly summer decorating tips on the list!

Use a Summer-Inspired Color Palette Like Blue and White

Use a classic summer color palette like blue and white.

You probably already have white dishes at home. So, consider adding navy or turquoise accents to the mix when creating your tablescapes.

If you’ve been collecting pieces like ironstone, transferware, or ginger jars but have been saving them for a special occasion, find a way to get them out of the boxes in the attic or cabinets and put them on display.

Stash Quilts and Lightweight Blankets Around the House

Stash quilts and lightweight blankets in baskets or over furniture arms to encourage rest and relaxation.

Even better if you have a designated nap area like a backyard hammock or a cozy couch on a sleeping porch.

Declutter

Now is such a great time to get your home in order before the school year begins!

Keeping a home that’s picked up, clutter-free, and organized can not only help save you time but it can help save your sanity too 😉

If you have littles at home on summer break and keeping the living room, or playroom feels too overwhelming, concentrate on keeping the kitchen counters clear.

That way, you’ll have an at-the-ready workspace to make everything from a peach pie to healthy salads.

I know summer is a busy time for traveling, celebrating friends and family as well as entertaining neighbors.

Keep in mind, you don’t have to go all out unless you want to!

No matter if you choose to use blue and white or gray and rattan, do whatever works best for you and your family in this season of life.

You can host a backyard barbeque or curl up with a good book on the front porch and listen to the afternoon rain. Either way, there is still plenty of time to celebrate all the good things that summer has to offer!
