Budget Friendly Decorating Tips for Summer
We’re sharing budget friendly decorating tips for summer as we team up with some of our favorite creative ladies for the Coastal Vibes blog hop! A special shout-out and thank you to Amber of Follow the Yellow Brick Home for putting together this hop.
If you’re coming over from my talented friend Kristin’s blog, White Arrows Home, welcome, we’re happy to have you here.
Kristin’s lake house is gorgeous so I’m all kinds of excited to see how she’s decorated for summer!
I don’t know about you but I feel like decorating for summer can be complicated at times
Especially, if you live in a warm climate and the temps hold steady in the mid to high 90s from the beginning of May to the end of September.
Since the season can feel like a long one, some years we go all out with shells and stripes.
Other years, we keep summer decorating at a minimum because we’re trying to get projects finished before hurricane season gets into full swing.
No matter what camp you find yourself in there is still plenty of time to discover simple summer pleasures and celebrate all the good things the season has to offer.
Here’s a look at our favorite late summer budget friendly decorating tips…
Highlight Your Porch and Patio Spaces
Summer is a great time to give a casual yet comfortable feel to your porch and patio spaces.
Especially, if you’re constantly on the road to your next adventure or hosting company during a busy summer season.
Creating a welcoming environment on your porch can be as simple as hanging a statement piece on the door and adding a few container gardens of flowers or succulents to help welcome you home.
Dine Al Fresco
Eating outside is one of my favorite simple pleasures no matter what time of year it is!
Whether you’re creating a special meal with al fresco dining or making s’mores around the firepit every meal is an opportunity to make new memories.
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy at all. Grab a few galvanized containers, rattan or wicker placemats, and pile on the shells and sea glass you’ve collected while on vacation.
It’s one of the easiest budget-friendly summer decorating tips on the list!
Use a Summer-Inspired Color Palette Like Blue and White
Use a classic summer color palette like blue and white.
You probably already have white dishes at home. So, consider adding navy or turquoise accents to the mix when creating your tablescapes.
You can find affordable salad plates or dishware sets at thrift stores, charity shops, estate sales, and antique malls.
Blue and white doesn’t have to be reserved just for tablescapes though. It’s really easy to add touches of blues and whites with fresh bed linens, new pillows, throws, ginger jars, and wall art.
Incorporate Bits of Nature Into Your Home
Incorporating bits of nature into your home is always a budget friendly summer decorating idea.
Cut flowers or branches from your yard, pile your favorite fruit in bushel baskets, or use potted herbs to add color around the house.
Display Your Favorite Collections En Masse
Displaying your favorite collections en masse or creating new vignettes is another easy and budget friendly decorating tip for summer.
If you’ve been collecting pieces like ironstone, transferware, or ginger jars but have been saving them for a special occasion, find a way to get them out of the boxes in the attic or cabinets and put them on display.
Collections en masse make a big statement for little money especially if you’ve been collecting a while.
Stash Quilts and Lightweight Blankets Around the House
Stash quilts and lightweight blankets in baskets or over furniture arms to encourage rest and relaxation.
Even better if you have a designated nap area like a backyard hammock or a cozy couch on a sleeping porch.
Declutter
Now is such a great time to get your home in order before the school year begins!
Keeping a home that’s picked up, clutter-free, and organized can not only help save you time but it can help save your sanity too 😉
If you have littles at home on summer break and keeping the living room, or playroom feels too overwhelming, concentrate on keeping the kitchen counters clear.
That way, you’ll have an at-the-ready workspace to make everything from a peach pie to healthy salads.
Get Crafty and Creative
Use stencils and paint to create custom pantry walls and signature throw pillows.
You can also use old fencing or scraps of wood to create signs that hold special summer vacation memories too.
Give An Old Project New Life
Give an old project new life with a makeover.
We turned this old workstation into an outdoor food buffet years ago and we use it all the time now!
Paint a Piece of Furniture
Finally, paint a piece of furniture in a fun summer color.
If you’ve ever wanted to change things up one of the most budget friendly decorating tips for summer I can give you is to harness the power of paint!
From accent walls to end tables, paint offers an instantaneous change. So grab your favorite color and get started today!
Budget Friendly Decorating Tips for Summer & Things to Keep In Mind…
I know summer is a busy time for traveling, celebrating friends and family as well as entertaining neighbors.
Keep in mind, you don’t have to go all out unless you want to!
No matter if you choose to use blue and white or gray and rattan, do whatever works best for you and your family in this season of life.
You can host a backyard barbeque or curl up with a good book on the front porch and listen to the afternoon rain. Either way, there is still plenty of time to celebrate all the good things that summer has to offer!
Up next on the Coastal Vibes blog hop is my sweet friend Michelle of Thistle Key Lane. Michelle is always so creative and I can’t wait to see her studio update!
