Summer Party Planning…

Summer is a great time to host family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers for seasonal parties and events.

You don’t have to go all out unless you want to.

Having a simple party favor for your guests goes a long way in helping to make your event a memorable one though.

With the 4th of July right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to put together these quick and easy patriotic party cones.

Here’s a look at everything you’ll need to create your own patriotic party cones…

Patriotic Party Cone Supplies:

  • Party Cones (wicker or paper)
  • Glue or Tape (double-sided or clear tape to secure the ends if you’re making paper cones)
  • Paper Party Filler
  • Patriotic Themed Treats
  • Ribbon (optional)
  • Tissue Paper (optional)

Patriotic Party Cone Steps:

I found these vintage-inspired party cones at a charity shop.

You don’t have to have wicker cones like this do this project though.

Honestly, you can do this same idea with paper cones, berry baskets, metal buckets, or even beach pails.

As you can see the wicker cones were originally pink.

I spray painted them white because I wanted to be able to use the cones throughout the year.

Obviously, if you’re using a paper cone or a different kind of container, you’ll skip this step.

If you’re making a patriotic party cone with paper, you’ll want to make sure the edges have been secured with double-sided tape or glue.

That way, the contents don’t fall out.

I used heavy white card stock to make these.

Most craft supply stores sell sturdy scrapbook paper with a patriotic theme like flags, stars, or stripes as well.

Once you have your wicker or paper cone assembled, add the paper party filler.

Depending on the size of your party cone, you might even have to stuff a bit of tissue paper in the bottom.

Next, add patriotic or party-themed treats.

We used glow-in-the-dark bracelets, sparklers, short stack glow fuze, flags, and of course, candy!

Safety First…

Keep in mind, that you need to make sure you’re placing age-appropriate treats into each patriotic party cone.

Children should never be left unattended around flammable items or where adult supervision is required.

Also, given the temps have been soaring around the country lately, check to see if there is a burn ban in place for your area. You might want to skip the flammables and sparklers altogether!

If your patriotic party cone is geared more towards your girlfriends, consider adding bead necklaces, nail polish, sunnies, a cute scarf, sunscreen, hand lotion, bath bombs, a cute makeup towel, monogrammed note cards, or even lottery tickets.

You can honestly fill them with whatever theme or color fits your celebration best. That’s why we love making these party cones so much!

Bonus, they literally take just a few minutes to make.

For example, it took me longer to drive to town to pick up all the supplies than it did to make these patriotic party cones!

I know this might seem like a small party detail.

But simple gestures like these patriotic party cones are not only quick and easy, they’re also a thoughtful way to let your guests know how much you care about them.

So, don’t be afraid to get creative at your next event!

    1. Oh, my word, speak to my heart, Cindy, I totally get you! I was trying to photograph our summer porch last week and it was 101 but felt like 110 because of the humidity. I had a cafe sandwich, fruits, and a field green salad on the plate and I swear the leaves wilted the instant I walked out the front door. Gah-summer in Florida and Texas are crazy. Thinking of you and your family and hoping all your animals are all ok. Big hugs, CoCo

  15. Oh how fun is this! I have pre-teen nieces and nephews that would just love these at our family Fourth of July get togethers! Although I would put the “snakes” in the cones (the little black pellet things you light that grow and coil around like a snake.) I know it’s odd but those are my weird and gross “fireworks” are my favorite!

Your cones are just adorable! Thanks for joining the hop and have a happy Fourth of July!

    1. I totally forgot about those snakes, Amber! I used to play with those as a kid so I’m all kinds of excited to tell the littles about them now too. They will love them too! Thanks so much for putting this hop together and for including me. It’s always so much fun to see what you guys are up to. Big hugs, CoCo
