Spring Into Summer Entry Ideas
We’re teaming up with 29 of our favorite ladies to share simple spring to summer entry ideas as part of the Spring into Summer blog hop hosted by the always-creative, Kristi of French Creek Farmhouse.
If you’re coming over from Lynn’s blog, Living Large in a Small House, welcome, we’re thrilled to have you here!
Getting Back to Basics…
Earlier this month we started our own personal Back to Basics campaign and honestly, we couldn’t be more excited about it.
Our Spring season, like many of yours, was an incredibly busy one as we started slowly adding more and more activities back into our calendar.
Truthfully, it felt like we were making up for lost time which is a huge blessing.
While being able to treasure hunt with my Mom, hug my sisters, cheer on the littles and troubleshoot DIY issues with my Dad will always be a highlight in any day, these past few months, I’ve really started missing all the things we were really intentional about during the pandemic.
So, this summer we’re giving ourselves the gift of a reset and we’re getting back to basics beginning with how we’re transitioning the house from one season to the next.
Spring to Summer Entry Ideas in an Open Concept Home…
Full disclosure, we live in an open concept home and our entry, which is parallel to the dining room, is relatively small.
In fact, I had to stand in the dining room to take most of these pictures. There is a large column that “separates” the entry from the dining room, but it’s right in the middle of the two spaces which makes taking photos a challenge.
That said, we’re always mindful the entry sets the tone for the rest of the home. And depending on how active your family is it can also be one of the hardest-working spaces too.
To make our spring to summer entry ideas easy ones, we added a makeshift coverlet from fabric I picked up at IKEA last year to the bench seat,
changed out the pillow covers to a pale pink which we also picked up at IKEA,
added a plaid throw I found at a thrift store for $3,
made a spring to summer arrangement by placing flowers and greenery to a concrete bucket my Mom and I found treasure hunting,
included an extra basket for flip flops and dog accessories and called it good. If you haven’t tried decorating with baskets yet you totally should. You can dress them up or down so easily!
We’ve been using them around the house for years and they’ve all held up really well.
Other Spring Into Summer Entry Ideas…
Speaking of holding up really well, some of the terracotta pots we use on the front porch are over 15 years old.
If you don’t have a defined entry space, think about jazzing things up around your front door or porch area. It’s another simple way to be creative when it comes to spring to summer entry ideas.
In the past, we’ve used a store-bought wreath,
DIY spring to summer grapevine wreath,
faux lavender,
and a wall basket filled with roses, hydrangeas, and greenery.
While we haven’t transitioned the front porch from spring to summer just yet, it’s a space we always look forward to spending time in. Especially, on lazy summer nights when the fireflies are dancing about.
You can take our Spring Flowers Porch Tour here and last year’s Cottage Inspired Summer Porch Tour here.

Your entry is beautiful and so perfect for Summer! We are excited to feel more back into the swing of things these days too but looking forward to those long relaxing Summer days for sure 🙂
Thank you so much, Tanya, I really appreciate it. I’m beyond thankful things are starting to open up again but I definitely miss those moments when we were intentional about everything from our afternoon tea time ritual to our weekly trips to the farmer’s market. Sign me up for long relaxing days of summer too! Hope your spring to summer season is a peace filled one, CoCo
Thanks, CoCo for the intro to my blog! I just love your front entryway. Everything from the board & batten walls to the delightful bench. The basket for shoes is such an easy, creative idea. I’m heading out today to find one! I too have a very small space that leads right into my kitchen so it’s always a challenge. Great inspiration both inside and out! Loved your post.
Oh my goodness, CoCo–what a gorgeous entryway! You’re right; it certainly sets the tone for the home, and you’ve done a beautiful job of it. I especially love the ribbon and livestock tag on your basket. It’s a small touch, but adds so much charm. I have a very similar basket, and I never thought to dress it up that way! Love it! You’ve really given me so much inspiration about how to create defined spaces in an open concept area…genius! xo, Kristi
Your home is so beautiful. I love the floral bench and the thrifted throw! Your porch is exactly what I want mine to look like.
I am in love with every single touch you added WOW!
I always have so much fun reading your log and today was no exception CoCo. I love when you share your porch, and I can’t believe some of those pots are 15 years old! The hanging basket of flowers is a favorite. Your entryway is so pretty with all the special spring touches. Pinned and then pinned some more.
Yes, I agree the entry really sets the tone for the entire house. Yours is decorated so beautifully! I love all the pinks and that gorgeous bench! It’s so soft and feminine and truly says – welcome! Great to see how you decorate from spring into summer!
Shelley
Your entry way is so stunning and oh my gosh, I love your porch. It’s beautiful!
Coco,
As always, you knocked it out of the park! I love the bench in the entry. The pillows, throw and seat are gorgeous. Love the fabric you found at Ikea. The flowers in the bucket you found are pretty. c I love the sign hanging and the saying.
We still haven’t planted flowers. It’s been a windy and weird spring weather wise. Hoping Saturday or maybe Friday we can go. My friend found a new garden center and I’m excited about visiting.
Have a great afternoon!
Such a beautiful entryway and foyer! It is perfect for spring and summer!
The colors in your entryway are so calming, I just love that sweet bench! And I agree that baskets are a must for so many things around the house!
Where can I purchase a similar horse picture lie the one in your post?
I found that horse print online at Great Big Canvas several years ago, so I would definitely try there. If they don’t have that exact one they have a lot of other good ones to choose from. We recently had 2 similar styles framed for my parents home and they look great! Good luck on your search, CoCo
Wow Coco, your entryway is so pretty! I love all the beautiful colours and that bench is too cute! I’m so excited to be joining you on this tour and so happy to have found your blog! x Julie
Such a beautiful and welcoming entry! xoxo
Oh my goodness CoCo, your entryway is sheer perfection! I love how you matched up the flowers in the bucket and the wreath with the flower fabric on your entryway bench. Your front porch is gorgeous too – I love how you placed the potted flowers! You knocked this one out of the park my friend!
Just charming and inviting my dear! Getting back to basics over here, too. It feels so nice!
Coco, everything is so pretty!! It’s like flipping through the pages of The Cottage Journal!!
Such sweet and kind words, Jennifer, thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Hope your week is a special one, CoCo

CoCo, Thank you for sharing your beautiful inspirations with us at the TFT party! I’m featuring your wonderful post this week. Congratulations!
Theresa.
So excited, Theresa! Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. Hope your week has been a fun one, CoCo
Oh my gosh, CoCo! What a great hop!! I love how you’ve redone your bench for summer with the Ikea fabric and pillow slips… If florals are making a comeback, my two couches in the living room are 1990’s florals! I do have some floral fabric in my stash from when I was in my early 20’s (1980’s) that I’ve never cut, I could do something with that, too. 😀 Anyway, just wanted to say that I was so happy you linked this post up; I did feature your post at this week’s Share Your Style this past Wednesday (SYS #303). <3
Hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend and Sunday,
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Such a sweet surprise, Barb, thank you so much for the feature! I was with my Mom when we found that fabric and I totally fell in love. It reminded me of all the summers we spent with my grandparents picking blackberries, clipping hydrangeas for a simple centerpiece, and getting our chores done so we could ride to town. Can’t wait to see what you do with your floral stash. I know it will be amazing. Hugs, CoCo
LOVE that floral fabric…SO PRETTY! Also baskets. Baskets are wonderful and amazing pieces of decor!! Love how you tie everything together so seamlessly.
Thank you so much, Rachel! I picked up the floral fabric from IKEA last year on sale. Baskets, like vintage dishes, are another weakness of mine. I swear I just can’t pass by one without picking it up and bringing it home. Hope you have the best week, CoCo
