Festive Holiday Entry Ideas
We’re sharing festive holiday entry ideas today!
When it comes to decorating the entry for the holidays, I’ve never shied away from saying it’s THE hardest space in the house to decorate because it rarely ever changes.
We intentionally keep it simple because our spacious front porch is always the star of the show.
And we want the transition from one space to another to feel seamless.
Still, the transition is an important one and deserves a little extra effort.
Especially, for the holidays.
When I first started planning our holiday home several years ago, I imagined lots of pale pinks, seafoam greens, and muted blues.
But once our travel plans changed, I decided to fully embrace one of my favorite quotes…” she leaves a little sparkle everywhere she goes…” as our holiday theme.
And it wound up being one of your favorite holiday home tours of the entire year!
I used the silver tinsel tree my parents gifted me years ago and it was just the right amount of sparkle for our entry area.
Despite trying to keep our entry area as clutter-free as possible, I couldn’t help but place a few extra packages around the tinsel tree.
My Mom also added my riding boots with a basket of greenery to help round the area out.
Greenery, ornaments, and ribbons are always a really easy way to make things feel festive and budget-friendly.
Every season I say I’m going to replace the horse print with something else and each time I just can’t let it go.
In fact, here’s a look at how we’ve created a festive holiday entry using the same horse print over the years…

Sweet Shop-Inspired Entry…
Last year, I decided I wanted something completely different than anything we’d ever done before.
I wanted a sweet shop-inspired holiday season based on the phrase “Let your heart be light” from the song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
For us that meant, adding lots of color and things you would find in a candy shop like lollipops and sprinkles and tissue paper pom poms.
I wanted to open the front door and have our home feel as light as a whisp of cotton candy.
While it’s been much harder than I imagined to keep our sweet rescue Piper from stealing the “sweet treats” from this area, it’s been fun to find fresh and creative ways to dress up the entry for the holidays.
Bonus, the sprinkle-patterned paper lanterns, honeycomb balls, fans, and pom poms can be reused for other festive celebrations throughout the year.
Champagne Wishes Festive Entry…
This year, I decided to bring the tinsel tree back and decorate it with simple blush-colored ribbons as part of our Champagne Wishes theme.
If you’re in the midst of creating a festive holiday entry too, here are a few things to keep in mind…
- Choose a color palette that is consistent with the color palette you’re using for the rest of your holiday home
- Add texture with cozy pillows, throws, and decorative accents
- Layer in a bit of nature with greenery picks or use festive garlands
- Remember to create or leave space for packages, presents, and other deliveries
I know sometimes decorating for the holidays can be overwhelming.
But honestly, now is a great time to get creative and try out the ideas you’ve been pinning for months.
It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.
So, grab your favorite things and get started creating a festive holiday entry today!
