From the Front Porch
Happy Friday from the front porch, sweet friends. Thanks so much for making us a part of your day!
Last weekend, I found myself sitting in seat #13 waiting for the Talyor Swift Eras Tour movie to begin.
There was an unmistakable hint of excitement in the air, and as I balanced a big box of popcorn and M&Ms on my lap, I couldn’t help but people watch as they filed into the theater.
Best friends wearing matching outfits, grandmothers wearing bejeweled capri pants, a father and daughter wearing near identical shackets and eyeglasses, and a mom with littles in tutus *this close* to spilling a carrier of drinks just to name a few.
On the surface, it might have seemed like we had nothing in common.
But for nearly three hours we sang and danced and ooohhhhed and aaahhhed over all the costume changes – so many sequins – and without a doubt, we were thoroughly entertained.
In the past, I would have almost certainly made an excuse as to why we shouldn’t even bother going.
After all, it’s hard to compare a movie to a live concert event.
I’ve learned over the years though, that if you don’t make time for special moments, they pass you by forever.
And then you’re left with the “I wish I would haves…” or the “should haves…” or the “Next year, I’ll…” and then next year comes and you’re just as busy as you were the year before.
The reality of our lives is that there will always be dishes that need to be cleaned, clothes that need to be washed, leaves that need to be raked, and work obligations that pile up on our desks.
I’m not saying you should ignore those things, obviously, they have to be addressed.
But when you get the opportunity to make extra special memories this season, even if they seem too small to matter at the time, I encourage you to take full advantage of the moment.
Because the moments we’ve been given right now, have been given to us for a reason.
Truly, they are the gifts of today that we will treasure tomorrow.
So, carve the pumpkin, light the candles, pass out the candy, host a chili cookoff, bob for apples, get lost in the corn maze, surprise them with your epic costume, make time to sip cider by the fire, or be outrageously spontaneous.
Every day is an invitation to be savored and enjoyed.
As always, I’ll be cheering you on as you make time for what matters most this season.
PS: I shared some outfits and gift ideas below in case you’re going to the movie, hosting a themed Halloween party (don’t forget the Champagne Problems signature drink), or have a Swiftie in your house too.

Such wisdom!!! The To Do list will still be there later! We almost didn’t go to a concert last night that I’ve been so excited about, just because of time and other upcoming obligations. We were both really glad that we did go after the fact! I’m glad you enjoyed the show/concert! I thought that them making it into a movie was pretty brilliant!! Have a great weekend!
It makes my heart so happy to hear you guys went to the concert, Susan! Sometimes you just need to get out and sing and dance your heart out, you know? It’s good for the soul. I couldn’t agree more about making it into a movie. The closest place to us that sold the concert tickets was Atlanta and they sold out so fast. Even though it’s hard to compare the experiences, I’m glad they made the movie too because it was fun to see what the fuss was all about! Sending you lots of hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo
Hey CoCo! I especially love the dining room in the Gramercy Park house. I totally need that! (Not really, but I can dream…) And I love the green and white in the Georgian villa and the English garden with all the roses–so much work but obviously so much love has gone into that garden. Thank you for sharing all this beauty!
I’m so glad you found some inspiration from this post, LeAnne. Being able to find fellow creatives and award winning designers is one of my favorite things about the internet. Every week the spaces and ideas challenge me to think and decorate in different ways. I have such a calm and neutral color palette in my home, it was fun to change things up with a bit of color this week. Hope your weekend is filled with all good things, CoCo
Hello, friend!!
Such amazing words today, as always. I never was a Swiftie but know plenty of others that are . It’s so much fun to see everyone dance and be so completely happy with her music and song lyrics!!
Enjoy the lovely weekend, CoCo!!
I totally get what you mean, Rachel! She started gaining popularity when I was in my early thirties so it’s been fun to “rediscover” her music now that the littles are old enough to listen to some of her music. Plus, it’s been fun to see them make friendship bracelets too. They are so creative and let’s face it from a marketing standpoint she is on fire! Hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo
Coco
You have the cutest Halloween ideas ever. The pastel colors really set you apart. Makes we want to do everything pink. lol. 😂. Thanks for sharing my Halloween centerpiece. You are the best.
You are so welcome, Rachel! You blow my mind with your creativity all the time. Hugs and happy weekend, CoCo
Hi! Sounds like you had a blast at the movie!
Thanks for the reminder that every day should be savored and enjoyed. As bloggers, it’s so easy to fall into the trap of working constantly, since we are at home. You have helped me see that it’s important to take a step back and enjoy life! Fall is such a great time of year to get out and about and enjoy the festive season! Here’s to a great week!
