Simple Jeweled Christmas Ornaments

We’re sharing how to make simple jeweled Christmas ornaments today!

For the past few years, I’ve tried to carve out time to make a few Christmas ornaments during the holiday season.

They’re never anything elaborate or time-consuming.

Rather something that I can make while Piper is napping or on a lazy Sunday while the football games are on.

Our theme this year is “Champagne Wishes”, and it’s been so much fun to sprinkle lots of blush, champagne, frosted picks, flocked trees, and ribbons around the house.

While we still have several rooms to finish, we decorated our Blush and Champagne Christmas Tree over the weekend and I can’t tell you what a treat it’s been to start each morning with twinkling lights.

This simple jeweled Christmas ornament is a nod to one of my favorite simple pleasures – snuggling up with a good book and a peppermint mocha.

It didn’t take long to make, and we found all the supplies at our local Joanns.

Here’s a look at how to make simple jeweled Christmas ornaments…

Simple Jeweled Christmas Ornament Supplies:

  • Wide Ribbon
  • Very Thin Ribbon
  • Jeweled Pendant (it needs to be flat on the back)
  • Heavy Cardstock
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Hot Glue
  • Scissors

Simple Jeweled Christmas Ornament Steps:

Gather your supplies.

Use caution and care as you plug in your glue gun and allow it to heat up.

Again, using caution and care, use scissors to cut the shape of the bottom of a bookmark out of heavy cardstock. We used the card that came with the pendant for our simple jeweled Christmas ornament.

Next, cut your ribbon in the same shape.

You’ll want the ribbon to be slightly larger than the card. I’ll show you why down below.

Then using cation and care as your glue and glue gun will be hot, carefully glue the card to the bottom of the ribbon.

Next, glue the thin ribbon to the top of the card. This will create a hanger for your simple jeweled Christmas ornament.

Once you have those pieces secure, glue the top ribbon in place.

Keep in mind, that you’ll also need to glue the sides shut.

This is the biggest reason you’ll need to make sure the cardboard form is smaller than the ribbon.

Allow the glue to dry, then glue the pendant on the top of the ribbon.

Your simple jeweled ornament is complete!

Things to Keep in Mind…

What I love most about these ornaments, other than the fact that they’re super easy to make, is that they can be easily customized to suit any holiday color palette.

That said, it was harder to find pendants that were flat on the back than I thought it would be so keep that in mind.

If you can’t find a pendant you like, you might want to consider using a vintage brooch or pin.

Just be sure that the cardstock you’re using is heavy enough to hold your simple jeweled Christmas ornament in place.

My Mom loves bees, so I made this ornament for the tree at my childhood home, Loblolly.

  6. Hi CoCo – I love this idea for tree ornaments. You could even personalize them by using someone’s birthstone. Also, I love your theme “Champagne Wishes”. Gosh, it feels like something from television series “The Crown”. No doubt your home will be beautiful during the holiday season.
