Blush and Champagne Christmas Tree
We’re sharing how to decorate a blush and champagne Christmas tree today!
Truth be told, decorating the Christmas tree is my least favorite part of decorating for the holidays.
In fact, I’d happily trade cleaning out and organizing the refrigerator for decorating the tree if it were an option.
In years past, my Mom or bestie S have come to the rescue and helped me decorate.
But this year, we all had conflicting schedules.
So rather than dread the task for yet another year, I decided this year was going to be the year I finally learned how to decorate a blush and champagne Christmas tree.
Now that it’s done, I honestly don’t know why I let myself be so intimidated by the process. It was way easier than I thought it would be!
Here’s a look at how to decorate a blush and champagne Christmas tree if you feel like a beginner too…
Step 1: Decide on a Color Palette
I’m the person who gets distracted the minute I see anything glittery or jeweled.
So, over the years I’ve learned to narrow my focus by starting out with a specific theme or color palette in mind.
Organizing your holiday decorating this way, will help you:
- stay on track and focused throughout the holiday season
- save time as you’re going through boxes and bins in your garage or attic
- keep your budget front and center while out shopping for additional supplies
Step 2: Set Your Tree Up, Hang the Christmas Lights, and Add A Tree Skirt or Collar
Once you have your color palette and theme in mind, take your tree out of the box or bag and set it up.
Once it’s been secured in the tree stand, hang the Christmas tree lights (if you don’t have a prelit tree), add a tree skirt or collar, and start fluffing the branches.
Fluffing the branches has been one of the hardest things to learn how to do because we have a flocked tree.
And the more you fluff, the more it sheds.
But unless you fluff the branches, it looks squished and there is nothing for your ornaments to hang on to.
So, keep that in mind if you’re new to flocked trees this year. They’re so pretty and so messy!
Step 3: Decorate From Top to Bottom
Decorating the tree from top to bottom has been recommended most to me over the years but it can be tough.
Especially, if you don’t know what topper you want to use.
We’re using a vintage deer on our blush and champagne Christmas tree this year just to keep it simple.
But you could also use a star, an angel, a big bow, or even lots of floral picks as well.
Step 4: Add Floral Picks
Speaking of floral picks, I could never figure out why our tree never looked as “full” as the trees I saw in magazines.
But after getting some advice from my Mom on how to decorate our blush and champagne Christmas tree, I realized we needed lots and lots of floral picks.
Floral picks help to fill in tree hole gaps and add layers of color, and texture to Christmas trees.
They’re usually budget-friendly too.
So, be sure to include a variety of lengths and shapes on your tree.
We used 5 different kinds of picks this year.
Step 5: Add Christmas Ball Ornaments
Once you’ve filled in the tree holes with floral picks, add Christmas ball ornaments.
Be sure to hang them all over the tree and in different places on the branch too.
I used to hang all our ornaments at the very tip of the branch.
But it adds so much more depth if you hang the ball ornaments at different places from the tip to the trunk.
Step 6: Add Unique Ornaments in Different Shapes
Once you’ve finished hanging the ball ornaments, hang ornaments that are unique, meaningful, and in a variety of different shapes.
These types of ornaments can be handmade, collected on travels, or treasure hunted.
I included everything from a rocking horse to an Eiffel Tower my Mom found at an estate sale on our blush and champagne Christmas tree.
Step 7: Add Ribbons and Bows
Finally, add ribbons and bows.
Just a heads up, if you’re weaving the ribbon into the tree branches you wouldn’t do it on the last step.
But if you’re looking for something to help add a pop of color to your tree, a simple bow tucked into a branch or tied at the tip of your tree is easy peasy.
The ribbon on our blush and champagne Christmas tree is actually called vanilla.
It’s the prettiest shade of blush though.
Step 8: Try a New Angle
One of my best beginner decorating tips is to sit on different ends of your couch, and in the chairs in your living room to look for decorating gaps in the tree.
After all, what we see standing up and sitting down is not the same viewpoint.
I can’t tell you how many times I thought I had finished decorating our blush and champagne Christmas tree only to realize I had left a random hole.
And I would never have seen that hole, had I not been drinking a peppermint mocha on the couch.
So, walk around the room, sit in your chairs, and make sure the tree is dressed at all angles.
Blush and Champagne Christmas Tree: Taking the Pressure Off
I know it can feel like everyone on Instagram and Pinterest has received some sort of “How to Decorate a Gorgeous Tree” memo.
I used to feel that way too.
It can be hard at times to not have “comparisonitis.”
Especially, this time of year.
The thing is your friends and family probably don’t care if you’ve decorated a blush and champagne Christmas tree or a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
They just want to walk into a home that feels warm and inviting.
So, take the pressure off and let your Christmas tree reflect the season you’re in right now.
It doesn’t need to be perfect, simply one that is perfectly you.

What a gorgeous tree! You did great!
PS: I was thinking about you this weekend. My mom and I were shopping for wreath-making supplies because she’s donating wreaths to a silent auction benefiting my kiddo’s school. As we were shopping, we kept seeing gorgeous blush and champagne Christmas items (especially at Hobby Lobby). Every time we saw them, we’d think, I wonder if CoCo saw these. It was really fun!
Thank you so much, Corrie, I really appreciate it! I know exactly the aisle you’re talking about at Hobby Lobby. I turned the corner and I’m pretty sure I heard angels singing with all that glitter and pink 😆 It was so gorgeous. It’s super sweet of you guys to think of me. I’m glad you had a chance to shop and craft too. It sounds like the best way to spend the day. I’ll be cheering you on that your beautiful wreaths make lots of money for the school. It’s such a great cause! Hugs, CoCo
I love all of the beautiful custom touches you added to your gorgeous blush and champagne themed tree. That was also really helpful feedback about the mess made by fluffing a flocked Christmas tree.
Thank you bunches, Heidi! It never snows in Florida so of course the minute I saw flocked Christmas trees everywhere I wanted one too. It felt like the only way I could bring a little snowy magic to Florida. They’re definitely beautiful but our dust buster and cordless vac have been getting a work out this week. There is snow and glitter everywhere! Hugs, CoCo
Gorgeous!! Love the reindeer!
Thanks so much, Debra, I really appreciate it. Hope you have the best day, CoCo
That may be the prettiest tree ever! It is gorgeous and in my favorite colors!
I’m with you on decorating the tree – not my favorite thing to do! I’m by far NOT a perfectionist, except for decorating the tree. I think this stems from my sister putting ornaments and globs of icicles on the bottom of the tree when we were little. I always had to secretly go behind her and fix it. 😂
Thanks for the tips and the beautiful inspiration!!
Aww that’s so sweet and kind of you to day, Susan. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. That is hilarious that you fixed the tree after she gobbed the icicles and ornaments at the bottom. I’ve wondered so many time if my Mom did the same thing to us! She would probably never admit to it but that’s probably the reason we each had a tree in our own rooms. That way we could make it as “festive” as we wanted to 😂 Sending you hugs for a happy week, CoCo
This tree is stunning. I never used picks because I tend to use ornaments that have been collected over the years. Many are from Germany and are Christpoher Radko.
Thank you, Cindy! I love that you have so many ornaments that you’ve collected over time. It definitely makes pulling them out each year extra special. Hugs, CoCo
You did an AMAZING job, CoCo!!! Your tree is just stunning. What a pretty color palette that you chose this year!! Thanks for mentioning the ‘ comparisonitis.’ I too fall into that trap all. the. time. but I tend to catch myself now before I get into that spiral. It’s truly about you and your home and what feels cozy at the time. ANyways, I’m super amazed at how full your tree looks. All of the extra picks and ribbons add such pretty textures. Hugs, friend!
I couldn’t agree more, Rachel, and I’m excited that you’re learning to catch yourself before the spiral begins. It’s not always easy to practice but the effort is definitely worth it. Sending you lots of hugs and cheering you as you navigate a joy filled Christmas this year, CoCo
In complete and total honesty – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more beautifully decorated tree. Seriously. The colors, the glam, the bows, the topper. It’s all stunning and should be on a magazine cover my friend. I wish we lived close to each other. I’d sit beside it while slurping on a peppermint shake from Chick-fil-A and be so happy! I can hardly wait to show this to my youngest daughter who, like me, adores all things pink.
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas! Hope I’m the first with those greetings. 😉
I always enjoy visiting you CoCo, your tree looks spectacular! You always nail it with the ribbons in your home, something I tend to forget about. They are just that extra touch. I admit, decorating will be scaled way back here, but I did pick up some ribbon and have been adding it to everyday items to give us a bit of Christmas cheer. Mom’s are the best advice givers! My mom always placed poinsettia flowers in her tree to fill in with. I picked that up from her to fill a cheaper tree in our living room no one ever sees that had bare spots. Finally, I am in love with your flocked tree. I have always wanted one, but worried about the shedding and our pup. Hope you are well and thank you for your Christmas inspiration.
Your tree is stunning CoCo! Just the right amount of gorgeous ornaments and I LOVE the ribbon. So many good tips too, sitting across the room to look for gaps is brilliant! Hugs xx Tanya
Hi CoCo! You did a fabulous job on your tree! Thanks for all the tips, I can’t wait to use them when I put my tree up this weekend! I love pink and all things sparkly, so this tree really speaks to me! I enjoyed seeing your unique ornaments, especially the Eiffel Tower! The gorgeous ribbon is such a soft touch, and the deer on top is perfect! Now you can sit back, relax, and enjoy those twinkling lights!
Hi Coco,
Love, love love your Blush and champagne Christmas tree, it is gorgeous, and made my heart beat a bit faster. lol Seriously, cause it is just so pretty. Decorating the tree is my worst job for some reason…..I love decorating my house and everything else, but the tree, just don’t know why…….think it has to do with the fact, I decorated the Christmas tree by myself growing up which equated to no fun at all………lol
One year I just threw fake snow on it and called it a day…………cause my whole house looks like Christmas,
so didn’t seem to matter. lol cause the house still looked warm and inviting….as you say, and that is all that
really matters. Hope you are doing well, loved your Halloween attire, you looked so cute. Weren’t you
Queen Elizabeth?? I saw it but it was a few weeks ago, so can’t remember for sure. My granddaughter had a thing at school where they do a wax museum type of thing and they find a character and dress up like them and then tell everyone about their characters life. She was Florence nightinggale, but her lil friend was Princess Di and her lil sister was queen Elizabeth, They were all so cute.
Well, you have a lovely weekend, I so enjoy your blog and love all the links you leave for us to check out as well. Great Job My Dear.
Blessings Galore,
Nellie
Hi CoCo-
Your tree is absolutely STUNNING. I love how you incorporated the floral picks. The colors you selected are perfect and reflect you in every way. Yes, I definitely have a case of “comparisonitis”. We have a flocked tree and we always decorate it with a wide and varied collection of ornaments. So -there isn’t a lot of harmony among the ornaments. Nonetheless, it is so sentimental and enjoyable to bring out the various ornaments and put them on the tree. It’s just not Instagram worthy . . . (if you know what I mean)
