Treasuring Hunting at the Renninger’s Extravaganza
Late last week, my Mom and I went treasuring hunting at the Renninger’s Extravaganza, and we had so much fun! This particular event is only held three times a year in January, February and November with nearly 800 vendors setting up spaces in the field bringing all sorts of goodies. You can find all my best tips for shopping this event, in this post.
We almost always go for our birthdays in January, but February and November are sometimes hit or miss because of our schedules. We’re trying to make it three for three this year, so I was excited we were able to carve out a little bit of time to spend the day at the Extravaganza last Friday.
If you like to treasure hunt or if you’re looking for budget friendly finds to decorate your home, I highly recommend you go to places like this because the selection can’t be beat, and the prices are usually pretty fair. Keep in mind, this is not a curated show like a Country Living Fair event. This is more like a yard sale meets outdoor estate sale meets antique dealer warehouse sale.
My only piece of advice is if you love something, buy it when you see it because more than likely it will be gone by the time you’ve circled back and changed your mind. Also, some of the vendors do not attend every Extravaganza event which makes buying what you love even more important.
The line to get tickets in January was crazy but it wasn’t that bad for the February show.
It’s hard to explain what the event is actually like because some vendors have their booths styled to a T,
while other vendors have their wares laid out on picnic tables.
There’s definitely plenty of room to shop despite all the crowds though.
We try to hit our favorite vendors first because we’ve learned they tend to sell out pretty quickly. Most of the time the more seasoned vendors in the field are set up in the same location which really makes shopping a lot easier.
Treasure hunting at the Renninger’s Extravaganza is like shopping at one of those places that truly have something for everyone. In January we saw a good amount of ironstone,
well-loved brushes,
these gorgeous doors my Mom fell in love with, (they were sold),
a chippy cart I fell in love with (sadly, it was also sold)
a lot of weathered concrete,
and this beautiful chandelier!
We were looking for specific items this trip but I couldn’t pass up taking a few pictures of random things we loved like this iron bed,
this chippy barn door,
this large scale,
these stacks of breadboards,
and this pecan sign. If you’re new here, I’m the official steward of my family’s pecan grove so I told my Mom when our pecans grow to an epic size, I’m going to get a sign for us too ?
Renninger’s also has multiple buildings filled with indoor vendors on their property. One of our favorite’s vendor is probably in her 80s now but she’s able to source the best stuff! Here’s a look at her booth in January…
And because she’s in such demand, here’s a look at the same shot of her booth last week. There were so many people shopping her space these were the only pictures I could get! We’ve gotten quite of few things from her for Loblolly Manor because she has such unique finds. You can read more about what we picked up at this same event last year, here.
We didn’t really need anything in January, so we were pretty much open to whatever struck our fancy. But this trip, we had a small shopping list of things we were hoping to find. After I staged the hutch in the dining room, I realized I needed a few more statement pieces of ironstone. I found a gorgeous piece in January, but I didn’t bring home any big pieces this time. Honestly, it’s different every time we go treasure hunting at the Renninger’s Extravaganza, so we never really know what we’re going to bring home which makes “the hunt” even more exciting.
I’ve already unpacked and photographed everything from our January trip, I just need to photograph the things we bought on our February trip. My Mom and I are both trying SO hard to be good about what we bring home now so we were very selective. Still, we found some fun pieces. I’ll share them with you next week!
I’ll see you guys back here tomorrow with a look at scenes from our week, a few menu ideas and all our favorite things from around the web. Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
Many blessings,
CoCo
Hi CoCo! I’m so glad you and your Mom got to go to the flea market! It sounds like a really good one and I Do love a good flea! I can’t wait to see what kind of treasures you found! I just love the thrill of the hunt, lol, have you ever been to the one in Texas called Round Top? That’s where all the designers and such buy from. I hope to go to there one of these days. Hope you have a great day tomorrow! ?.
Round Top is on my bucket list, Shelia! I always see such beautiful finds from there and I remember when Fixer Upper was on tv and Joanna would shop there for some of her home makeovers. She came home with the most fabulous treasures. If you ever go you have to tell us what you came home with! Sending you hugs, CoCo
I love outdoor events like Renningers. It looks like you guys found a lot if fun things. Can’t wait to see what you brought home.
We had a great time, Bonnie! The weather was really nice and of course all those aisles of treasures were fun to pick through. We’ll have to meet down there sometime. I know you love to treasure hunt there too. Hugs, CoCo
