DIY Shoe Box Organizers

We’re sharing how to make personalized DIY Shoe Box Organizers today.

In early January I started cleaning out my tiny closet because every day it became harder and harder to put outfits together.

Not to mention, I needed to declutter and find a more efficient storage system too.

Once I finished going through all my clothes, purses, and accessories, I decided it was time to go through my shoes as well.

I’ve been using plastic shoe bins for over a decade now and they’re still holding up well.

But it’s not always easy to tell the shoes apart when they’re stacked up on the floor.

Especially, if they’re a similar color.

So, one afternoon I decided to add a custom touch and create personalized DIY shoe box organizers.

Here’s a look at how to create personalized DIY shoe box organizers in case you’re ready to give your old plastic shoe boxes a glow up too…

Supplies:

• Plastic Shoe Boxes
• Spray Paint (Formulated for Plastic Surfaces)
• Library Label Holders
• Home Computer, Printer, and Paper (to print out labels)
• Screwdriver
• Dremel, optional (this will depend on the thickness of your plastic shoebox)
• Proper Safety Gear for Spray Painting
• Tarp

DIY Shoe Box Organizer Steps:

Gather your supplies and make sure your shoe boxes are free from dirt and debris.

Be sure to read the back of the spray paint can for further safety recommendations and instructions.

It’s best to do this project outside in a well-ventilated area while wearing proper safety gear.

As you can see, the bottoms of our shoe box organizers are clear.

So, we only spray painted the lids to give them a fresh feel.

Once the tops are dry, use caution and care to attach the metal library holders to the front of the box with a screwdriver.

Keep in mind, the screws may stick out a bit depending on the thickness of your shoebox organizer.

So, be sure to use caution and care as you trim the screws flush with the box.

Next, use your home computer, printer, and paper or cardstock to print out custom labels.

Finally, place your shoes back into your DIY shoe box organizer and enjoy!

While it’s only been a few months since I’ve been using these personalized shoe box organizers, I can already tell a difference when I’m putting outfits together.

In the past, I would have probably taken whatever shoe was easiest.

But now, I definitely find myself being more intentional and it feels so good.
