River Ranch Bedroom Makeover

A few weeks ago I spent a good part of the week working on the River Ranch project. The house is a retreat space right on the water and it needed everything from sleeping pillows for the bedroom makeovers to furniture. It’s been so much fun to create a comfortable space for the family to enjoy and while we still have things on our list to finish, it’s all starting to come together.

From a design standpoint, the homeowner wanted the place to feel coastal without reading too beach house. She has a very traditional and elegant style at her farmhouse and our goal was to provide her family a relaxing space to unwind.

Giving the bedrooms a makeover was a top priority. In order to keep things budget friendly, we kept all of the wallpaper in tact and brought in new flooring for the entire house. The previous homeowners had not made any major changes to the home since the 1960s and there was blue carpet throughout. As you guys know, getting new floors is quite an undertaking but it made a huge difference. Here’s a look at the bedroom before…

We cleared out a sewing cabinet, tv stand, dated sheer curtains and a bright orange desk to make way for this…

The homeowner chose a mix of crisp whites, navy blues and pops of yellow. She wanted the headboard and bed linens to make a statement in each room, which I’m excited to say we accomplished.

Is this headboard gorgeous or what?

The linens were gathered from Marshalls, Home Goods and Stein Mart, which are all affordable options.

When I drove down to River Ranch to work on this project, I brought the Ballard Designs inspired media cabinet with me. The project is about 4 and a half hours from my home and about three hours from the homeowners farm. We’ve had to do a good bit of shopping on location and thankfully, we found this great metal piece to use as a nightstand.

We picked up most of the accessories around the same time we bought the linens. If you’ve ever been shopping for accessories you know it takes a while to find just the “right thing.” You have to shop at a lot different places for both vintage treasures and new items in order to achieve a layered look. We added this navy blue textured rug

and these totally fantastic curtains to the mix on the last day. I mean those pom pom inspired curtains…I can’t even!

We’ll eventually put a reading chair in the corner with a cute side table but other than that we’re planning to keep the furniture and artwork to a minimum. After all, this entire space is about having a quiet place to snuggle up and relax after a fun day on the water.

See you guys back here tomorrow. This bedroom has an adjoining bathroom and we gave it a makeover too. Have you guys ever spray painted anything inside? Wait until you see the light makeover.

Many blessings,

CoCo
