Quick & Easy Heirloom Pumpkin Centerpiece

Today, we’re sharing a quick and easy heirloom pumpkin centerpiece you can make with real or faux pumpkins (a mix would be pretty too) in just a few minutes.

Decorating for Fall

As we’ve shared so many times this season, we’re all about finding simple ways to decorate for Fall so we can spend more time doing the things on our Fall Bucket List we want to do.  Whether that means finding the perfect pumpkin at the pumpkin patch or tackling those last few tasks on your home goals list before the holidays are in full swing.

Honestly, this heirloom pumpkin centerpiece is one of the easiest projects we’ve ever put together including the 5-minute Fall vignette we shared last year. The bonus of this project is that you can easily change out a few pumpkins and gourds for Indian corn.

You can also change out eucalyptus for wheat as we get closer to Thanksgiving. That way, you can have a “fresh” centerpiece without a lot of extra effort.

Here’s a look at all the supplies and steps you’ll need to make your own quick ad easy heirloom pumpkin centerpiece too…

Heirloom Pumpkin Centerpiece Supplies:

• Long Container (we used an antique dough bowl, but you could also use a long basket)
• Different Sizes of Pumpkins and Gourds (the length and depth of your container will help to determine how many you’ll need)
• Filler (we used books, but you could also use Styrofoam, floral foam or even plastic grocery bags)
• Burlap Fabric (a piece the length of your container)
• Eucalyptus Bunches (we used 2-3 bunches total)

Heirloom Pumpkin Centerpiece Steps:

Step 1:

Make sure your container is clean and free from dirt, dust, and debris.

Step 2:

Place a filler at the bottom of your container. We used books, but you could also use Styrofoam, floral foam, or even plastic grocery bags.

Whatever you choose, you just have to make sure it provides a stable base for your heirloom pumpkins, so they don’t fall over.

Step 3:

Cover your filler with a piece of burlap fabric.

Step 4:

Lay your eucalyptus bunch on top of the burlap fabric.

Step 5: 

Begin by placing your largest heirlooms pumpkins on the centerpiece first. We started with 3 medium size pumpkins.

After those are in place, add your smaller pumpkins and gourds.

Make sure to keep the shades of the heirloom pumpkins consistent.

For example, a blues, greens, creams, browns combination OR an orange, greens, creams, browns combination will go well together in the same container.

Once all the pumpkins and gourds are in place, add a few sprigs of eucalyptus to the front and the back of the container.

That way, your heirloom pumpkin centerpiece will feel layered.

This is the kind of centerpiece that could easily go on a breakfast nook table, dining room table, or a console table in a living room or entryway.

You might remember we filled our heirloom pumpkin centerpiece with DIY heirloom pumpkins we made from the dollar store and featured it on our back patio as part of a Fall inspired tablescape.

I know sometimes it can feel a bit overwhelming to have to create a centerpiece.

Especially, for busy seasons or the holidays where tables settings are always front and center.

But my hope in sharing these 5 simple steps with you, is that you’ll realize it doesn’t have to be complicated or fussy at all – you guys can totally do this!
