Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Dresser Makeover
Aaaaand we’re back…to painting dressers Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Old White that is. I don’t even know if you guys remember this dresser or not. I bought it at The Warehouse. It was a pretty random day but I had a major score for Loblolly Manor the day I found this dresser. Remember this little pile of goodies? That’s the dresser in the back.
I don’t know what it is about Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White but I can hardly keep the pieces I paint in this color in my booth at The Pickers Market. I’ve painted this exact same dresser this exact same shade about a hundred times and each time it sells fairly quickly.
This dresser has been like a lot of the other dressers I’ve painted, in rough shape. Check out this top. It had a date with my orbital sander and 80-grit sandpaper.
The veneer on both sides of this dresser was also in need of some attention.
I decided to use beadboard panels we had on hand from a previous project to add a cottage feel to this dresser. Once you’ve determined the dimensions of the panel, cut the beadboard panel with a handsaw
and secure in place with tack nails. I also used Liquid Nails, which can be purchased at most home improvement stores to help further reinforce the panels to the dresser.
With the sides firmly in place, I used one coat of Zinsser Primer,
followed by two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White, a light sanding and finished with clear paste wax.
Make sure to allow for adequate drying time between each coat of primer, paint and wax. It makes a difference.
One thing I’m beginning to appreciate more and more as a vendor is understanding what my customers like and it’s definitely white, cottage and coastal.
Many blessings,
CoCo
Great Job! I’m with your customers. I’m still loving painted white furniture right now 🙂
Goodness Angie, me too, I looked at my pinterest boards the other day and there was so many pieces painted white!
CoCo…I love this dresser makeover. I especially love your creative use of beadboard – what a wonderful idea for a damaged piece of furniture!
Thank you bunches Vicki!
Once again you have done a wonderful job. I love the idea of adding the beadboard. That is a lot better than removing veneer. Have a blessed day my friend.
I really appreciate it Renee, thank you!

I buy the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint from a place called The Model Home store. They are fantastic! Most of my other supplies come from local home improvement stores like Lowes.
