A Simple Patriotic USA Cake
Today, we’re sharing a simple patriotic USA cake for those of you that need an easy last-minute make-and-take dessert for all your 4th of July parties and festivities.
The 4th of July has always been one of our favorite holidays because we’ve made so many fun memories around this special day. I know a lot of you spend time with your families, neighbors and friends on the 4th too.
Growing up in a military family definitely brings a certain kind of reverence to Independence Day. I can still remember the morning we left our tiny hometown to move across the country from Florida to Texas. It was the beginning of an adventure that would change all our lives forever.
Over the years, we moved many times but no matter what city we were living in, my parents always made sure we got, “back to our roots” and spent time in our hometown with our big farm family each summer. It was something we looked forward to every year.
From a picnic on the lawn of the Fort to popsicles by the lake to watching the fireworks from the base, the beach and in the mountains too – it’s hard to pick a favorite spot to enjoy all the festivities the 4th has to offer.
No matter how you choose to celebrate, I wanted to share just how easy it was to make this simple patriotic USA cake. Here’s a look at all the details…
A Simple Patriotic USA Cake Supplies:
- USA Shaped Cake Pan or Flag Shaped Cake Pan
- Red Velvet Cake Mix
- Eggs
- Water
- Oil
- Measuring Cups
- Mixing Bowls and/or Stand/Hand Mixer
- Non-Stick Baking Spray
- Cooling Racks d
- Cream Cheese Frosting
- Cake Decorations (if desired, we used blueberries)
A Simple Patriotic USA Cake Steps:
Step 1 – Make sure your USA cake pan is clean and dry before spraying with non-stick baking spray.
Step 2 – Mix the ingredients for the red velvet cake according to the directions on the back of the box. Then fill the USA cake pan with the red velvet cake batter.
Step 3 – Using caution and care as oven will be hot, bake for the suggested time as per the red velvet cake box. Be careful not to overfill the cake pan – see Texas ? Place on cooling rack and allow to cool completely.
Step 4 – Frost the USA red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting or frosting of your choice.
Step 5 – Add decorative embellishments to make your patriotic USA cake festive and fun.
We used blueberries because we had them on hand, but you can use whatever cake or candy decorations you like best. We highlighted Florida since it’s our home state, but it would also be cute to add embellishments to all the places you’ve lived in over the years especially if you’ve traveled around a lot.
I’m not even going to lie, most of the time we make our cakes and our frosting from scratch. That being said, sometimes you just have to give make it easy on yourself and pick up a box mix or even have your favorite bakery make something special for you. There’s no shame in that at all!
Besides, summer gives us such a short window to enjoy wild adventures or lazy days before we have to get back into the swing of things like school, regular work routines and the gearing up for the holidays.
Take this time to celebrate as much and as often as you can!
Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Many blessings,
CoCo
