Spring Bunny Tablescape
Today, we’re sharing our spring bunny tablecape which was inspired by the sweet little marsh bunnies that live on our property. And also, by how easily you can create a simple Easter tablescape using pieces you already own in a fresh way without a lot of fuss.
The number one question I get about seasonal tablescapes, most often, is how to make them feel festive and livable all at the same time.
You know what I mean, right?
To leave the dishes out or put them away…that is the question.
I know so many people that leave their seasonal dishes out on the breakfast or dining room table because it’s such an easy way make the space feel festive during the holidays.
On the other hand, I know people that would much rather leave out a seasonal centerpiece than to have to deal with the hassle of putting away the “special dishes” every time they sit down to eat.
Which camp are you in?
I honestly don’t think there is a right or wrong answer. I think it’s more about doing what best fits your needs for this specific season of your life.
Without a doubt, the spring season always seems to be a busy season due to Easter and Passover, spring break, school activities, the fair, garden parties, planting sessions, spring cleaning, home goal projects, seasonal maintenance and general decluttering.
There is a lot to do!
Not only that, after a long winter people are just ready to get outside and feel the sunshine on their faces. We totally get it, we feel the same way.
And when our calendars start piling up with activities, it’s really easy to let things like seasonal decorating slide OR to get so overwhelmed by thinking we have to decorate the entire house, we just decide not to do anything at all.
But you guys, seasonal decorating doesn’t have to be all or nothing. There are ways to make your spaces feel festive and functional at the same time, especially when it comes to spring tablescapes.
Here are a few things to consider…
Choose a seasonal color palette– We’re using white, green and brown this year, so you’ll see those colors represented throughout the house. They’re an easy complement to all the layers of grays, creams and wood tones we use year-round.
Shop your house for the basics first– Before going out to buy something new shop your house for basics like dinner plates, chargers, glasses, silverware and even napkins. Once you have a solid base then purchase seasonal items.
We found these brown and white salad plates on sale at Hobby Lobby and immediately fell in love. Pairing salad plates with neutral dinner plates is an easy to way decorate for the holidays without taking up extra space in your dish pantry and cabinets or breaking your budget.
Pick centerpiece containers you can reuse throughout the year– We created this centerpiece using a basket we already had on hand. It adds texture to the table and could just as easily be holding vegetables in the summer or pumpkins in the fall. We also created a spring inspired centerpiece for the dining room using a simple box .
Add greenery to your tablescape with flowers, plants, branches or clippings from your yard– Unfortunately, we suffer heavily from seasonal allergies so using real flowers inside an be tough this time of year. That said, the greenery from plants (even faux plants) can really help to bring life to your spaces and spring tablescapes.
We used this mix of faux cabbages and boxwoods then added clippings from our Bridal Bush for an easy pop of color.
Choose spring décor wisely– Finally, and this is probably the hardest one on the list, choose your spring décor wisely. If you’ve been to a big box store lately, you know how easy it is to get wrapped up in “all things spring.”
We’ve seen so many pretty pastel plates, napkins, glasses, eggs, bunnies, wreaths and centerpieces this year.
The thing is, if you don’t have a place to store those decorations or if you’re trying to use your budget wisely resist the urge to bring home those items that are trendy or that you don’t truly love.
In the end, you’ll be much happier without the extra seasonal clutter because it will you more time to gather around a spring tablescape and celebrate with the people you adore most!
What colors are you guys decorating with this year?
Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Many blessings,
CoCo
The tablescape looked great. I liked the simplicity of it
and especially liked using faux plants and real fliers.
Also, the napkin rings were super cute.
Great job!
So glad you liked this tablescape, Lizzy, it was super easy and quick to pull together – especially the centerpiece. Hugs, CoCo
This table is really beautiful Coco. The plates look just transferware. I can’t believe they came from Hobby Lobby. I need to check them out. Thanks
I couldn’t believe I found them in Hobby Lobby either, Sarah. They look just like brown and white transferware. They only had 2 at my location so I asked my Mom to check her location and she found 4 more. I definitely think we’ll be able to use them multiple times throughout the year. Good luck finding some where you are too! Hugs, CoCo
Hi CoCo! That is the cutest centerpiece I think I’ve seen! Adorable! We live on the marsh and have marsh bunnies in our yard too! I just love watching them! I have a thing for bunnies and sheep. Weird combo, right? LOL! Like you, I too like just buying salad plates to use with my white dishes or stoneware to change up my decor. They don’t take up much space and you can always find some that are really cute, but only if you truly, truly love them. Because you’re totally right about having to find a place to store all that stuff. All that decor has to find a place to live and once you get too much of that “stuff”, it becomes a real burden trying to store it all. I’m trying to downsize and trying to unload a lot of that decor I “just had to have!” What a mess, ugh! Anyway, your table looks awesome and thanks for reminding me what’s more important. Enjoy your week! ?
Speak to my heart, Shelia, I feel the same way about all the stuff. I always get excited about finding new treasures because sometimes you just never know what you’re going to come across. That said, I literally say to myself, “What am I willing to let go in order to bring this piece home?” while I’m standing in the aisle or at a vendor’s booth. It’s not always easy but it definitely helps me make more confident decisions and makes me more aware of what I truly love as opposed to “like right now.” So excited you guys have marsh bunnies too – twinsies 🙂 Sending you hugs and thanks so much for the sweet words, CoCo
Love the limited color palette and that bunny is perfect! Give me all the greens! 😉 Thank you for sharing at Homestyle Gathering! Hope to see you again on Tuesday!
You’re speaking to us CoCo! We just did a major clean-out and purge at Jenn’s. This past weekend we tackled Vicki’s garage and we still aren’t finished! We are definitely letting go of the clutter and only keeping items we love or make us happy. If you don’t hear from us for awhile…we got buried under the junk ? Much love!
