Kitchen Refresh
It all started when we decided to give the breakfast area a little refresh. This sign became the inspiration piece for the entire space. Simple meets rustic.
I made pillows from dishtowels backed with muslin,
painted a set of thrifted chairs,
and added this metal piece I picked up at Kirkland’s Home Décor. They weren’t big changes but they made the space feel fresh again.
As I’ve shared with you guys before, this house has an open floor plan making it hard to change things up in one room without changing things up in the adjoining rooms. It’s been about a year since we painted the kitchen walls Valspar’s Cream in My Coffee and added a white subway tile backsplash. Both of which, I still love.
Once we finished with the breakfast area refresh, I decided to add a few new things to the kitchen area too. I hung these ironstone platters next to the built in desk and
moved the collection of breadboards to the desk too.
I also gave the desk chair a little makeover by bringing the same color, Silver Leaf, that’s in the pantry and the desk cabinet to the stripe in the chair.
Giving the pantry a makeover as well as reorganizing the desk area made a huge difference in how we use the space. It’s so much easier to keep things neat and tidy now.
We moved the breadboards to make room for this awesome cow art. We found it at Kirkland’s too when we picked up the metal piece for the breakfast area. Needless to say, I was totally surprised it came home with us but more than happy to accommodate that sweet face.
The pitchers are both thrifted finds that I recently bought on the treasure trail as is the wood cutting board.
While I was picking up the cow picture, I also bought a few glass soap dispensers. I bought this chalkboard inspired dispenser for the kitchen and I’m saving two others for a master bathroom refresh. The good people at Kirkland’s were really sweet to send me a gift card at Christmas after we partnered on a post together last year together. This isn’t a sponsored post, I’m grateful for their kindness just wanted to give them a shout out. It was fun to be able to do a little shopping and give these spaces a fresh feel.
We try to keep herbs in the kitchen but healthy plants have been in short supply here lately. Settling on this mixed bouquet of flowers and green apples wasn’t a hard sell though.
It adds just enough color to the kitchen and feels like a big hug to celebrate this almost finished space. I say almost finished because I’m currently saving for new pendant lights to go over the island.

Everything looks great, Coco. There’s nothing like a little kitchen refresh to make you smile. We all spend so much time in that room that it definitely needs a little scrubbing and fluffing from time to time.
