Master Bedroom Makeover: Sources & Budget Breakdown
Seriously, you guys are the sweetest! I can’t even tell you how much I appreciate all your kind words and encouragement these past six weeks during the master bedroom makeover. Your love and support means the world to me. Thank you so much!
From start to finish we completed the One Room Challenge in six weeks. Those weeks were filled with everything from ripping out the carpet and stenciling the floors to adding architectural elements with board and batten to shopping estate sales and thrift stores to pull together accessories and finishing details. As with any makeover, there are so many factors that went into completing these projects, so, I thought I would give you a peek into our shopping sources and budget breakdown… (affiliate links have been provided for your convenience. Please read our full disclosure policy here).

All in all, I think we did well considering we took this room from this…
to this…
Most our budget was spent on paint, molding and the board and batten installation which was worth every penny. It completely changed the look of the entire room. We were able to save money by painting the existing furniture and by finding most of the accessories at estate sales and thrift stores. We love to treasure hunt so this part was definitely our favorite.
Projects like these can really start to add up fairly quickly so if you see something on sale and you love it, make sure you buy it. We didn’t need to purchase new hardware until week three but they were on sale at week one so it was worth buying them in advance. We also took advantage of online coupons and free shipping when and where available which helped to save money too.
My biggest tip is to know your priorities and non-negotiables in advance because unexpected issues will come up during the process and these things may affect your budget. Knowing your priorities in advance will help you make decisions quickly and will also help to ensure you’re getting those elements that are most important to you.
I hope you all have a happy and relaxing holiday weekend. I couldn’t have done this project without my mom so will be happily spoiling her on Sunday for Mother’s Day. We have a great week coming up next week as we share our favorite ORC makeovers, furniture transformations and we’ll share what’s next for the home office. Until next time, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
Many blessings,
CoCo
