Conversation Heart Vase For Valentine’s Day

Today, we’re sharing how to make a quick and easy conversation heart vase for Valentine’s Day.

As I’ve shared before I absolutely love our island cottage.

There’s not a lot of extra storage space for seasonal décor though which means I’m constantly looking for fresh ways to use things I already have on hand.

While we don’t go all-out decorating for Valentine’s Day, I do think it’s fun to have a few pops of color around the house to mark the occasion.

This conversation heart vase for Valentine’s Day idea is not a new one.  There are plenty of pretty examples all over the internet.

But it wasn’t until I decided to make one for my own home that I realized just how quick and easy they were to make.

Not only that, they’re incredibly versatile which means we’ll be able to use this same idea for multiple occasions and throughout the year.

Bonus, this conversation heart vase for Valentine’s Day took less than 10 minutes to create – start to finish!

Here’s a look at how you can create a conversation heart vase for Valentine’s Day too…

Conversation Heart Vase Supplies:

  • Medium – Large Glass Vase
  • Small – Medium Glass Vase
  • Conversation Hearts (or candy of your choice)
  • Flowers (we used 2 bunches of faux peonies)
  • Water (if using real flowers)
  • Flower Clippers (if desired)

Conversation Heart Vase Steps:

Make sure your glass containers are clean, dry, and free from debris.

Place your smaller vase, inside the larger vase.

Begin adding conversation hearts in the space between the two vases until it’s completely filled.

Keep in mind, there’s a chance your vase might lean to one side or move during this step

So, be sure to watch it as you’re filling in this space.

If you’re using real flowers, add water to the smaller vase.

Then place your flower stems inside the smaller vase.

Add additional conversation hearts to fill in any gaps as needed.

What we love about this conversation heart vase for Valentine’s Day is that you can use any candy (save for chocolate) or flowers you like!

Think hot tamales, mike, and ikes, cinnamon hearts with tulips.

For spring, you could use jellybeans and peonies, or roses.

In the summer you could use beautiful hydrangeas and a vase filled with blueberries, orange, lime, or lemon slices.

When fall arrives you can use tiny pumpkins or beautiful leaves and mums.

For the winter season, you can use small pinecones, greenery, poinsettias, paperwhites, or amaryllis.

See what I mean?

The possibilities for festive floral arrangements and greenery combinations in every season are endless!

Plus, they’re super easy to make!

So, if you ever need a last-minute gift idea or have a special occasion like Valentine’s Day and you want to make something fun for your coworkers or teacher’s desk all these materials are budget-friendly.

    1. Oh my gosh, Kerryanne, thank you so much for the sweet feature! I’ve been out of town visiting my family so this was a fun surprise to come home to. I’m definitely with you this vase combination could be used in so many different ways throughout the seasons, especially for spring. 8. I love how your flower arrangement came out. I always loved those pastel heart candies because they are so pretty to look at but never taste quite as good as they look. I collect Chintzware, have oodles of it, and I happen to have the same cup and saucer sets that you have on display. Mine is chintzware from Japan.

    1. That is so exciting to hear, Ann, thank you. I always giggle when I try those conversation hearts because they are supposed to come in different flavors now but I swear they all taste the same 🙂 The chintzware cup and saucer are from my sweet aunt’s set. She would have us over for tea and cookies after school and we would get such a kick out of it. I’m excited about your collection too. I know it’s such a treasure. Hugs for a happy week, CoCo

    1. That would be so cute for Easter, Karen! I’ve seen people use the marshmallow Peeps candy too. We’re always looking for ideas to help make things easier so I’m tickled pink you’ll be able to use this one. Hugs, CoCo
