Last Minute Holiday Kids Tablescape
Can you guys believe Christmas is in 8 days! I know this can be a busy time of year for everyone. I’m back with a last minute holiday kids tablescape idea. I have a collection of childhood ornaments. My Granny used to make me one each year. They’re really bright and colorful. I wanted to find a way to use these ornaments in a fresh way and decided to use them in a tablescape specifically created for the littles.
I brought out the graph skills boards I found a few months ago while shopping in my hometown with my Mom and Aunt Gale. This will take the place of a typical charger. Bonus, the kids can write on these with dry erase markers.
I added Christmas tree dishes, whimsical linens (who doesn’t love Ric-Rac) and created a place card from pieces of the board game Scrabble.
I lined the center of my kitchen table with green glittered cardstock paper. You can find the cardstock at your local craft supply store. I bought these vintage playhouses this past spring. I don’t want to date myself but I used to play with a set just like this when I was a little girl. I’m kicking it old school and I think the littles are going to love it.
Next I filled a punch bowl up with water and peppermint shaped floating candles. I wish I knew how to use photo shop because I would have totally added a little flame to those candles. They didn’t appreciate the little splash of water when the table got bumped during this shot.
Lastly, I gathered all of the handmade ornaments my Granny made over the years and placed them front and center around the base of the punch bowl. It blows my mind to think of her cutting out each shape and sewing 11 sets of ornaments.
Setting a table specifically with the kids in mind will make them feel special this holiday season. If you have vintage ornaments you’re not sure what to do with give this a try and watch their little faces light up!
Many blessings,
CoCo
CoCo – I love this tablescape…makes me wish we still had “littles” in the family to enjoy this. Your granny is a lady after my own heart. You can see her love with all of her handmade goodness! The kids are going to love this table! Great job…
She’s a great lady Vicki, you would love her. She was the first DIYer in my life 🙂
Such a sweet little tablescape! I love everything about it and I know they will too❤️
Thank you Liz, I think they’ll be excited about it too…I just hope they eat 🙂
Totally adorable! I’d want to sit with the kids at this fun table 😉
You’d be a big hit at the kids table Angie!
I love the vintage play sets. Those our the best ones. My little one plays with that same barn every time we go up North to his grandparents and he is enthralled with it. Oldies are goodies. The whole tablescape is adorable.
Thanks so much Nancy, I appreciate it!
Coco. I love your kids inspired table and just made me smile. That is so awesome and special that you have ornaments your grandmother made for you. What cherished memories. Thank you for brightening my day xo Lisa
Thanks so much for stopping by Lisa! You’ve made my day so many times and I am more than happy to repay the favor. My Granny is a special lady. She’s as spunky as ever at 84 and I treasure these ornaments.
Those playhouses! I want to sit at the kid’s table! The ornaments from your Granny are TREASURES and this table looks like so much fun. The little Scrabble place markers are genius and I’m totally stealing that idea. I’ll bring my own markers for coloring 🙂 Bwg ~~~
I really think the kids will like the table setting Bobbi! We sat them at their own table a few weeks ago as a trial run and they were pleased as punch!
