Christmas Gift Wrap Blog Tour
Happy Friday, you guys! How are you holding up with just a few weeks left until Christmas? Are you still in shopping, decorating or baking mode? We shopped a little bit last weekend and the rest of the gifts should be on their way which will be exciting. Making sure the gifts have all been accounted for and have been wrapped feels like the last of the big “to-dos.”
If you need creative gift wrapping ideas, today is going to be a fun day. I’m teaming up with some fantastic ladies for a Christmas Gift Wrap Blog Tour. A very special thank you to Nancy of Slightly Coastal for putting this all together!
As some of you know, I grew up in a military family which meant every year we would have to drive for HOURS to reach our hometown for Christmas. Looking back on it now, all I can say is that my mother was a saint for going the extra mile to make us feel like we had a great Christmas even though we were rarely in our own home for the holidays.
Each year, she would try to come up with some sort of system to keep our gifts a secret while we were traveling. Sometimes, she would give our gifts a number.
One time she wrapped all of the packages with a specific paper that fit the theme of the gifts we were given. The year I got an Easy Bake Oven, most all of my gifts were wrapped in paper with gingerbread men on them.
Sometimes she would wrap our gifts all in the same color paper. If our holiday home theme that year was “Winter Wonderland” she could wrap my gifts in white, my sisters’ gifts in ice blue or silver colored paper and my dad would wind up having all of his gifts wrapped in snowflake paper. We had no idea which paper was for which person only that they fit in perfectly with the rest of the decorations in our house.
Most of the time the system worked great and we woke up on Christmas morning screaming and carrying on because my parents had created this magical experience for us. There were a few mishaps though like the time I opened a bottle of perfume one of my sisters wanted. We open our gifts one at a time and I couldn’t tell at first if they had made a mistake or not. I was totally into Electric Youth but what I had opened was a bottle of Love’s Baby Soft!
By the time my mom realized what was happening, she glided over next to me and slyly “rewrapped” the gift sort of Tootsie Roll style, added a bow to the top and put it on my middle sister’s pile.
A few moments later, I also had a Tootsie Roll style gift on my pile and was happy as a clam to be smelling like Electric Youth all day. My dad, however had a headache the rest of the day. As it turns out that same year my mom also received perfume. Did you guys ever wear Giorgio? We were the sweetest smelling family at Granny’s house that year he he!
As you’ve probably guessed from the images above, most of my gifts this year are wrapped with our home’s theme, “Heaven and Nature Sing.”
It’s been fun to find inexpensive ornaments, ribbons or greenery from the yard to embellish each gift.
The only exception we’ve made are the gifts for my niece and nephews. They make a game out of trying to see which gift is theirs given Mimi has a major “no peeking” policy at Bliss Barracks where we will be spending the holidays this year. So, we’ve personalized the North Pole Bank paper and added little gifts to the outside of their presents…
I’m hoping my sister will give me lots of grace when she spies these nails but I know my niece is going to love these. Plus it’s Christmas so she may be able to get away with wearing them if for only the day.

I hope you have a peace filled and relaxing weekend. See you guys back here on Monday. If we were having a progressive supper, we would finally wind up at my house for dessert. I’ll share all of the details of how we’re decorating and celebrating the holidays at Journey’s End this year. Until then, I’ll see you on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
Many blessings,
CoCo
These are all doable even for me CoCo. Thank you!
Yes, you can so do this girl! Hugs, CoCo
I feel like today’s post is a throw back at the perfume counter! I swear I wore all 3 of those perfumes. Did you wear ck One? I wore that one too and one called Poison! Can’t wait to check out the other bloggers in this group.
ha ha YES! I wore ck One! My mom wore Poison for a hot minute too. I totally forgot about both of those Sarah! Hugs, CoCo
I love natural wraps and the idea of theme wrapping Coco. Santa always had strange wrapping around the gifts he brought our kids compared to how we wrapped our own gifts to them – don’t know where he got his wrapping but I bet he’d love some of your ideas. 😉
I’m always amazed at what Santa comes up with every year, Mary Beth! Thank you for your sweet words. I hope you have the best day! Hugs, CoCo
Your gifts are all wrapped so beautifully CoCo! Love the story about the perfume too! 🙂
I appreciate you, Amy, thank you so much! Sending you big, sweet smelling hugs, CoCo
Oh my goodness Coco! Your gifts are beautiful. I love the story of how your mom would use different wrapping paper and keep the gifts a secret. One year my mother didn’t label any of the gifts because she thought she would “remember”. We all opened each other’s gifts as the morning became confused…but the best part? That’s one of the Christmas’ I’ll never forget. I can still see my mom staring at a present in her hand, shaking it, and trying to figure out whose gift was in it. haha.
Have a great weekend!
Nancy
ha ha oh my gosh, Nancy, that is so funny! I bet that was a Christmas to remember for sure. Thanks so much for putting all of this together. I am totally stealing those tassels. They’re amazing! Hugs, CoCo
I love that you wrap your gifts with a theme! And that north pole paper? I love it!
Thanks for the inspiration friend!
Merry Christmas!
karianne
You’re sweet, Karianne, thank you! I loved your galvanized tags. They’re so cute! Hugs, CoCo
Coco ~~What a sweet, sweet story! I love your mom. What a fun and festive spirit she is! And I can see her influence in your beautiful packages. I don’t think I can pick a favorite. I will pin the post so I have it at the ready. Great hopping with you this week! Happy Holidays! ~~ Susie from Chelsea Project
Such a thoughtful compliment, Susie, I appreciate you so much. She definitely made Christmas a special event no matter what city we were living in or traveling too. I pinned your post this morning too so I wouldn’t forget “presence vs presents” 🙂 LOVED! Hugs, CoCo
Hi CoCo – Your gifts are wrapped so thoughtfully! I am inspired to do something similar this year as well. Great to party with you. xo

We love that your family makes wrapping gifts and exciting event. We can only imagine how the frenzy builds! Your gift wrapping skills are to be envied!
I think it’s the “No Peeking” sign MiMi hangs on her bedroom door. That sends those little kids over the edge ha ha! Hugs, CoCo
