Pumpkin Pie Sugar Scrub
Today, we’re sharing an easy recipe for a Pumpkin Pie Sugar Scrub!
As one season begins to give way to another, a lot of us will find ourselves knee-deep in some of the busiest months of the entire year.
While the holiday season can be filled with awe and wonder, it can also be a season we’re pulled in a lot of different directions and our time, schedules, weekdays and weekends may not feel like our own.
It’s not necessarily a bad thing but sometimes too many commitments can feel exhausting.
As I’ve gotten older, it’s been my goal to slow down and celebrate each day.
And even though some days I’m better at it than others, I’m hoping we can all find a way even if it’s just for an hour a day to decompress, relax and focus on the good things happening around us.
One small seasonal luxury we can give ourselves, friends, and family members is a homemade sugar scrub.
They’re really easy to make and you don’t have to buy a lot of extra ingredients either. In fact, almost all the ingredients we’re sharing today can probably be found in your pantry right now.
In the past, we’ve made a pumpkin spice latte sugar scrub, a cinnamon and vanilla latte brown sugar scrub, and a pink Himalayan and rosemary salt scrub – all of which smell amazing.
This year, we decided to celebrate the season with a pumpkin pie sugar scrub made with real pumpkin!
Here’s a look at what you need to make a pumpkin pie sugar scrub too…
Pumpkin Pie Sugar Scrub Recipe:
- 2 cups white sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 cup of 100 % pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
- 1/2 cup of organic coconut oil.
Pumpkin Pie Sugar Scrub Steps:
Gather your supplies. Place 2 cups of white sugar in a large bowl. If you’re out of white sugar you can use raw sugar, sea salt, or Epsom salts.
Add ½ cup of brown sugar,
2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice,
and a 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree,
Finally, add 1/2 cup of organic coconut oil
Mix all the ingredients together.
Scoop the mixture into a jar with a self-sealing lid that has been well cleaned and is completely dry.
Things to Remember When Using Sugar Scrubs…
As with most homemade scrubs depending on the type of oil you choose to use, the oil may either settle at the bottom or rise to the top so, you may have to mix it up before each use.
Utilize common sense and take necessary precautions, as the scrub will also become slippery after use.
Given these ingredients are perishable, this pumpkin pie sugar scrub should be used within 3-4 weeks and leftovers should be refrigerated.
If your coconut oil solidifies while in the refrigerator, scoop a small amount of the pumpkin pie sugar scrub in a small bowl and warm it up in the microwave.
As always, use caution and care as you don’t want to apply hot oil to your skin.
We love these scrubs are simple ways to celebrate Fall and the upcoming holiday season too. Plus, it’s easy to gift and would make a fabulous make-and-take party idea as well!
