Simple Spring Dough Bowl Centerpiece
Today, we’re sharing a simple Spring dough bowl centerpiece!
While we’re still in the middle of social distancing and self-isolating, it’s still Spring and the weather in Florida has been fabulous lately.
Just being able to get outside for fresh air has been such a huge blessing.
Navigating a New Normal…
I know we’re all at different points in our lives and trying to navigate a new normal. Some of us are working from home, some of us are homeschooling kids and some of us are doing both at the same time.
There are some that are retired and at home cleaning out closets, baking lots of bread and knocking out things that have been on their to-do list for a while now.
Several of you have messaged to say you need a distraction from all the news as of late, and others have asked for quick and easy ways to decorate your homes for Spring.
Especially, given there is a good chance we all might be having an indoor egg hunt this year.
Truthfully, before all the working from home and social distancing started taking place, our schedule was kind of bananas.
We basically bought a bunch of faux florals (we have horrible allergies) and set about decorating the common areas in the house a little at a time.
Almost every project we’ve done so far has been super easy to create because that’s really what we need in our lives right now and I know so many of you do too.
This simple Spring dough bowl centerpiece is another one of those projects.
We wanted our dining room to feel festive because you can see it as soon as you walk through the front door. But given everything that’s going on right now, we didn’t want to leave all our dishes out as we did in the Spring flowers inspired tablescape in the breakfast nook.
Thankfully, I think we accomplished a quick and easy yet celebratory look without a lot of extra fuss.
Here’s a look at how you can make a simple spring dough bowl centerpiece too…
Simple Spring Dough Bowl Centerpiece Supplies:
- Dough Bowl (a basket, box or tray could also be used)
- Flowers or greenery of your choice (we used floral bushes and picks)
- Floral/Wire Cutters (optional)
- Books (the number of books you need will depend on the length and depth of your dough bowl)
- Burlap Sack
- Bunny (or two depending on the size of your dough bowl/container)
Simple Spring Dough Bowl Centerpiece Supplies:
Gather your supplies.
Just a heads up, we’re using this simple spring dough bowl centerpiece in the dining room. But the light is better in the breakfast nook, so you’ll see me start in one place and end in another.
Lay your dough bowl flat.
Then add stacks of books to the base.
This is a large dough bowl, so I used 6 books in total.
The books will help raise the height of the bunnies you’ll be using in the middle of this centerpiece. It will also help to keep them stable too.
Cover the books with burlap or a piece of neutral scrap material.
Place a large flower bush in each corner of the simple Spring dough bowl centerpiece. We used 4 bushes total.
If you’re using wire or floral cutters use caution and care as cutters will be sharp.
Once you have your floral bushes in place, start filling in the gaps with floral picks.
Try to vary the height and the color of the flowers so your arrangement is festive yet natural.
After you have the florals arranged the way you want them, place your wooden bunnies on top of the burlap covered books.
Decorating with a Simple Spring Dough Bowl Centerpiece…
Depending on the size of your dough bowl, you can cover every extra inch with flowers or take a more relaxed approach.
It’s honestly up to you.
Keep in mind, if you don’t have a dough bowl, you can also use this same technique with a box, tray, or even a basket.
No matter if you’re working from home, homeschooling, multitasking, cleaning out your closets, or baking all the things there’s still a way to celebrate Spring this year!
And if you’re going to be hosting an Easter egg hunt inside like we probably will be, this simple Spring dough bowl centerpiece would be a cute place to hide a few eggs.
I’m also hoping to have the front porch decorated for Spring later this week. So, I’ll share what this centerpiece looks like when you use it on the porch or patio.
I know some of you might be hunting eggs closer to home this year.
Let us know if you’re creating a simple Spring dough bowl centerpiece this season too!

Why have I never thought to add books in my dough bowl?! One, I’m obviously not as smart as you and two, my tiny dough bowl wouldn’t even fit a book. I can’t find a larger one. Well, there’s the fake ones but I’m holding out for the real deal. Happy Monday friend! Beautiful post.
You always give me the giggles, Cindy! This dough bowl is almost too big to decorate 🙂 But you can also use this same “book trick” with a box, a tray or even a basket. It really does help to keep the bunnies steady and you wind up using fewer flowers too. Thinking of you and hoping you guys are all staying safe and well. Big hugs, CoCo
This is such a beautiful Easter table centerpiece idea. Thank you so much for sharing!
So glad you like this Heidi! It was super easy to put together and didn’t take very long at all which is always nice! I hope your day has been a fabulous one, CoCo
This is such a beautiful centerpiece! Adding the books is such a great tip. I never would have thought of that. Thank you for the beautiful distractions. I’ve stopped watching the news and have chosen to only listen to things I enjoy. I’ve also started listening to audiobooks more while cleaning, which is new to me. I still love the feel of a book in my hand, but since the library is closed I have to settle for reading in a new way.
I totally get you, Michelle! I’ve definitely had trouble concentrating on both big tasks and small ones too. You’re so smart to listen to things you enjoy and to embrace audiobooks as well. I’ve been listening to a lot more podcasts lately and have been trying to get comfortable in silence and stillness. It’s so much harder than I thought it would be but I know it’s helping. Hang in there! Thinking of you, CoCo
Hi Coco,
I am in love with your dough bowl full of flowers and rabbits. Gorgeous and I love the colors…..it screams Easter and Spring.
Thanks for sharing it…………..so enjoyed your post.
Blessings,

I appreciate that so much, Nellie, thank you! It was really easy to make and honestly, you can do it with just about any container too. I know this is not the Easter any of us expected but I know this is an Easter we won’t ever forget. Sending you hugs and hoping that you and your family are all safe and well, CoCo
