Simple Spring Grapevine Wreath
Today, we’re sharing an easy tutorial on how to make a simple spring grapevine wreath!
Last year was the first year, I’ve ever tried to create a wreath for our front door. Our fall front porch tour is consistently one of the most popular posts of the entire year.
And as a perfectionist, I didn’t want to do anything that would mess it up including DIYing a wreath. Thankfully, it all worked out ok.
Using What You Already Have…
Like a lot of you, I’ve had trouble feeling motivated and creative lately. Especially, given the current struggles with COVID-19 and all the economic losses the nation has been facing.
I almost didn’t even bother putting up a wreath this year. But then I remembered how straightforward it had been to create a front door wreath for Fall.
And I decided to see if I could easily change our Fall grapevine wreath into a simple Spring grapevine wreath without a lot of extra effort using the supplies we already had at home.
It was so much easier than I had imagined!
Here’s a look at how we made the transition and created a simple spring grapevine wreath in just a few simple steps…
Simple Spring Grapevine Wreath Supplies
- Grapevine Wreath (this one is 24 inches)
- Floral Picks (we found these on sale at Joann’s)
- Greenery Picks (we also found these on sale at Joann’s)
- Bow and/or Ribbon (we bought the big burlap bow at Dollar General and the plaid ribbon is from Hobby Lobby)
- Egg and Nest Embellishment (similar item available at most craft supply stores)
- Floral Wire
- Wire Cutters
Simple Spring Grapevine Wreath Steps:
Begin by gathering your supplies. If you’re using multiple floral picks, start by getting a general idea of how you want to arrange them on your wreath.
It’s also helpful to know where you’re going to place your bow before starting to this project too. That way, you’ll know how much space you want to leave in between the floral picks.
If you’re transitioning a wreath from Fall to Spring like we’re doing here, remove those pieces that are considered seasonal.
You’ll likely be left with greenery, sprigs of texture and a few “holes” too. This will actually make it easier to help you decide the kind of simple spring grapevine wreath you want to create.
Once you’re ready, using caution and care as wire cutters will be sharp, cut a piece of floral wire and wrap it around the step of the floral pick several times.
Layer the Spring floral picks one at a time through the “holes” in the greenery where your previous Fall seasonal picks have been.
Be sure to gently weave the floral wire through the simple Spring grapevine wreath and wrap the wire around a piece of grapevine to secure it in place.
Continue to “twist, tie and tuck” floral picks with floral wire into the grapevine wreath until you’ve achieved a look you love.
Adding a Bow and Bird Nest…
Once all the floral picks have been secured onto your Spring grapevine wreath, carefully add the bows.
We attached these two bows together,
then attached the store-bought nest and eggs to the wreath.
It took us about 30 minutes to create the Fall grapevine wreath and because I was able to get most of the supplies on sale, it cost around $25.
Transitioning the Fall wreath to a simple Spring grapevine wreath took about 15 minutes and cost around $12 which makes this a budget friendly project you can do throughout the year too.
I’m putting the final touches on our simple spring porch tour and I’m excited for the Easter’s On Its Way Blog Hop which I’ll share with you on Friday.
While we took a softer approach this year, the front porch is still one of our favorite places to be.

I really appreciate it, Linda, thank you. I haven’t felt very creative at all since we’ve been social distancing so I’m definitely counting this one as a win 🙂 Sending you hugs, CoCo

Oh my gosh, Patty, that would be so much fun and the biggest blessing to look forward to too! Sending you hugs and lifting you up, CoCo
Lovely wreath, especially with the bird nest. I like to put a felt pad or glue on a small piece of felt on the back so the wreath doesn’t scratch the door.
Thank you so much, Myrna. It was definitely a fun wreath to make. That is such a great idea about the felt pad on the back of the wreath too. I would have never thought of that – thank you for the tip! I hope you’re having a great day, CoCo
Coco, I love your wreath, especially the bow with the sweet little nest and eggs. All your florals look great. Thank you for sharing at Tuesday Turn About.
I really appreciate it, Carol, thank you! The wreath was definitely fun to make, especially trying to use only items we already had at home. Now that I’ve had a little bit of practice I’ll be ready for Summer and Fall 🙂 Hugs, CoCo
Simply gorgeous. I have grapevine wreaths hanging in my bay windows that need a little something extra. I am definitely going to have to take the time to pretty them up. Thank you so much for the inspiration. 🙂
So sweet of you to say, Amy, thank you so much! I’m not an expert at all but I’ve found using floral picks really helps and they’re budget-friendly too. Hope your weekend is peace-filled and relaxing. Happy decorating, CoCo
Absolutely lovely wreath! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
Thank you bunches, Cecilia! I hope your spring season is a blessed one. Hugs, CoCo
Simply beautiful:-))) It looks great on front door:-)))
Thank you! The basket on the door is made from real twigs and we’ve already found a few of them missing so I know the birds must be fluffing up their nests. Hope you have a great day, CoCo
